Best of TV 2015: The Music Monday Edition – You’re the Worst

14 Dec

Costumes are not the only thing we are celebrating from this year in television and there have been plenty of incredible music infused moments. A lot of these have come in the final minutes of an episode with a song nailing the emotional pitch of a last scene. One such striking track use comes in the third episode of Orange is the New Black with the Dum Dum Girls “Coming Down” playing over one character’s devastating descent; further adding to the despair felt by these character and the glassy eye reaction from me.

HBO shows tend to be experts at the end credit music choices with GirlsLookingTogetherness and The Leftovers (Simon & Garfunkel featured here as well as in hotel karaoke) delivering fantastic selections. This includes both songs I already hold close to me – “This is the Day” by The The – and ones I had never heard before like Lily & Madeleine; Spotify tells me they are one of my most listened to bands this year and that is all because of Togetherness. There is also my favorite end credits sing along moment that came courtesy of Mad Men and the use of “Space Oddity.”

There is one show that consistently had me reaching for the rewind button and my phone to Shazam the end track week in, week out and that is You’re the Worst. Sometimes it would be after I stopped laughing, but more often than not I had to wait to stop crying and uncurl myself from the ball I found myself in. Yep this season has still been hilarious, but it also did some incredible things on an entirely different emotional level and quite often these came in the closing moments.
You're the WorstThe first indicator that all is not well comes at the end of episode 4 as Gretchen drives off in the night to destinations unknown (at this point), but the manner in which she does it and Torres’ “New Skin” point to something much bigger. At the time I referred to it as a gut punch of a moment and it still remains this way; knowing where Gretchen was going only adds to this sentiment and it is one of the most emotionally affecting scenes on television this year.

When we discover where Gretchen has been going – to cry in her car while playing Snake – and Jimmy responds with relief that she’s not cheating on him the song by Still Corners is a dreamy like affair as he walks away smiling and she returns to sobbing. It is somewhat emotionally surreal and wouldn’t sound out of place on a Sofia Coppola soundtrack.

By episode 9 Gretchen’s depression has hit new levels and Jimmy is so oblivious to her Claire Danes level of scrunched up face despair his dialogue gets slowly muffled as the music gets louder; like an alternate less murdery take on Simon & Garfunkel’s “7 O’Clock News/Silent Night.” What about when Jimmy stays? In between my sobs which mirror Gretchen’s and then my laughter that immediately follows Lindsay’s utterance of “farts” this Siskiyou track feels like a joyous warm blanket.

Sadly there is no “New Phone Who Dis?” on either Spotify or the end credits, but this is also one of my TV music highlights of the year. I am also waiting for the perfect time to respond to a text with this line.

So thank you You’re the Worst for all the new bands you have introduced me to and for ending each episode in ways which deliver such an emotional response. I’m sure regular TV Ate My Wardrobe readers will know how much I relish a good misty eye moment.

And for your listening enjoyment here is a complete playlist of the You’re the Worst season 2 end credits music.

Stay tuned for more Best of 2015 posts!

Out of the Box: Look of the Week

11 Dec

“Out of the Box” is a mostly movie affair this week including premieres, celebrations and awards aplenty. Oh and a small press tour of sorts has really kicked into gear. Sartorial highs come in a variety of forms and this week’s edition includes mini frocks, floor length affairs, ladysuits and so many patterns in the mix.

Lupita Nyong'oHappy Friday! And this shot of Lupita Nyong’o in Mexico City on the Star Wars: The Force Awakens press tour is full of so much joy and instantly makes me smile. As I mentioned earlier this week she is really working the quilted jacket (never an easy task) and this is a fun mix of casual retro cool with fancy futuristic cool in silver Louis Vuitton. Oh hey there smiling Oscar Isaac in the background.

Daisy RidleyMore Star Wars treats with Daisy Ridley wearing a very Alana Bloom looking ladysuit in Christian Dior Resort 2016 checks and Ridley is already making fashion waves in this slightly bonkers get-up. This is already meeting my high expectations for this press tour. Now all we need is some Gwendoline Christie.

Zosia MametI like this starry print dress on Zosia Mamet at the Sisters premiere a lot and not just because I already own something similar. Definitely the kind of thing you could dress down with knit tights and boots or up as Mamet has done here. Last week saw the first full Girls season 5 trailer released and I’m really looking forward to the new season.

Saoirse RonanAnother dress to be filed under ‘super cute and also kind of festive’ with Saoirse Ronan wearing a sparkly delight at the 2015 British Independent Film Awards.

Carey MulliganNow Carey Mulligan’s Gucci number is not so easy to pull off as there is A LOT going on and yet I think she is totally pulling it off. She also put a bird on it for the British Independent Film Awards.

Liv TylerMore long sleeve long gown pattern glory at ‘An Evening Honoring Valentino’ with Liv Tyler in Valentino (naturally) and this is giving me so many Pre-Raphaelites painting vibes (and especially this Ophelia painting). It has been a very good week for Liv Tyler and now all we need is for The Leftovers to get renewed.

Diane KrugerMore Valentino dark romanticism with a caped feather creation that might fall into the Diane Kruger is a Magical Fashion Unicorn category. Between the feathers and the green hue I am also getting flashbacks to Keri Russell’s Met Gala Altuzarra gown.

Olivia WildeContinuing a strong end of year red carpet presence in so many different styles is Olivia Wilde who has become an “Out of the Box” regular and this time she is killing it at The Hollywood Reporter’s Annual Women In Entertainment Breakfast. There is something so Katherine Hepburn about this Marc Jacobs ensemble and I am in love with this entire look.

Constance ZimmerConstance Zimmer does a different kind of cool at the Hollywood Reporter breakfast and this is an ideal daytime event outfit. Just with a whole lot of spill potential. Excellent red lipstick and shoe choice.

Kris and Selma BlairThis is not an endorsement of whatever is going on with Kris Jenner’s outfit (it looks like an unfinished craft project), but I can’t pass up the opportunity of showing IRL Kris Jenner embracing the American Crime Story Kris Jenner. I am so ready for this mini-series. Also Selma Blair looks really great here (also wearing a dress which would not be my first choice when near food/drink).

Girls Season 5 Trailer: Meltdowns, Dancing and Marnie’s Getting Married

2 Dec

Making terrible relationship choices is something Marnie does on a regular basis and last season on Girls she hit new levels of bad decision making by agreeing to marry Desi; in this new first full look at S5 it looks like Marnie will at least make it as far as her wedding day.

The ladies on Girls might be getting older, but there are still plenty of obstacles in their way including themselves and somehow their friendship bonds are still mostly intact (it’s still hard to imagine why they still hangout however infrequent). Earlier today I wondered whether these characters would spend much time together interacting this season and it looks just as fractured/contentious as it has been for the last few seasons, but this is only a trailer and it’s hard to gleam anything too detailed in a minute and a half.

What can be gathered is that everyone is falling into old patterns; Marnie lacks self awareness and of course she is someone who says her age with a half like she’s under 10. Shosh claims she is happy with her job/country move/running away from her problems, Jessa is still kind of mean and Hannah looks both happy and troubled by her relationship with Fran (the adorable Jake Lacy).

Instant snap shot moments ahoy! The main reason this interests me (aside from her age comment) is because of these pap shots (spoilers).  This is a really fantastic outfit for Jessa and her smile looks pretty genuine, although it’s always hard to tell with this character.Girls is always very good at club scenes and there’s a whole lot of dancing in the trailer. Plus this show always kills it when it comes to its music choices (the song in the trailer is “Colors” by Genevieve). The dude behind Shoshanna kinda looks like Ezra Miller.   Oh hey there Jake Lacy and Hannah’s Beyoncé quoting sweatshirt.  Marnie has a good reason to freak out about her makeup, but her wedding dress is stunning. Getting bridesmaid dress ideas for my wedding next year (not really I just want to freak my bridesmaids out).

Updated to include what the bridal party looks like before dress alterations and makeup disasters.

Watch the full trailer below where you will also see glimpses of Adam, Ray and Elijah.

Behind the Insta-Scenes: Photos from the Set

2 Dec

Lots of behind the scenes love included in this week’s TV Insta selection. Plus big hair, knitwear, grocery tips and some leftover Thanksgiving fun. Enjoy!

The Leftovers continues to be one of the best things on TV this year and the Meg-centric penultimate episode gave this character depth that was maybe missing last season. Here is Liv Tyler taking in the wonderful sites of Jarden, Texas (or probably Austin) in a super cute outfit.

Happy You’re the Worst Day! And while we’re on the subject of penultimate episodes here is another and I just remembered what Jimmy did at the end of the last one. Oh, Jimmy.

Confession – I am still at the same point with Jessica Jones as I was when I wrote this column last week (episode 5) and it is not because I don’t want to watch more, but more like time has got away from me. Regardless, I am still all in on this pairing and photos like this only make me want to marathon the rest of those episodes.

Much love on the set of Orange is the New Black.

A lot has been written about the amazing collection of wigs on The Americans, but the hair department also needs a shout out for this major volume and waves magic on Poor Martha herself. I love that Alison Wright has also adopted this name for her character.

While we’re on the subject of The Americans and hair; here is Holly Taylor showing off her own impressive wavy locks (it runs in this spy family) and like Gretchen Wieners she keeps her secrets in her hair. From the look on her face in this shot it doesn’t look like things are getting any easier for Paige Jennings in season 4.

Getting a different perspective on Jane the Virgin and it can’t be long before Petra is ready to give birth to her twins if this is any indicator. The way this season has dealt with the passage of time has been beneficial so far and avoids the repetition of some story points (there are some that can’t be avoided it would seem when it comes to the central love triangle).

Good Wife group shot from this week’s episode and I am still very much all about Lucca Quinn’s styling. Now to find more out about her character and whether there will be more than dancing with Cary.

Knitwear and the ladies from Girls. I would love to see more from them as a group this season instead of their own separate adventures; however I’m not so sure it would make that much sense for them to be hanging out by now.

For anyone wondering where Robyn is.

Definitely ready for awards circuit domination from this pair.

Alison Pill’s fantastic kitty cat sunglasses would not look out of place on GirlsBroad City or Brooklyn Nine-Nine (Gina would look great in a pair).

Grocery shopping tips from Jenny Slate and not only does this all sound delicious, but the notebook and handwriting make it extra appealing (you should see my scrawled mess of a lists – my stationary is always top notch though).

This cat.

Booze, beach, excellent outerwear and three celebrities that are going to feature on many Best of 2015 lists.

Rounding things off with a like mother, like daughter onscreen edition and the images chosen by January Jones and Kiernan Shipka to celebrate Thanksgiving.

Made even more perfect by them picking slightly different moments, split seconds apart from the same scene.

TV to be Thankful For: A Pre-End of Year List (of Sorts)

26 Nov

There is a lot of TV to be watched right now (#PeakTV) and like many I am in the process of compiling end of year lists (and as I have done in previous years I will be doing my ‘best of’ in a variety of ways) while trying to remember everything that I have watched this year. So this is a preview of what is to come in the following month and hopefully it will jog my very full TV related memory of anything I might miss.

So in no particular order here is what I am thankful for when it comes to TV in 2015:

  • The Hollywood Reporter TV Actress roundtable participants look like this and not this.
  • Comedy shows that explore a broad range of topics which not only make me laugh until I cry, but also invoke full on Claire Danes level of cry face. I am mostly looking at you You’re the Worst.
  • While I’m on the subject of comedies that make me misty eyed; Parks and Recreation ended this season on a high with an episode that pivoted on the Six Feet Under model and caused just as many tears.
  • Cable shows are embracing male nudity beyond just butts (special shout-outs to The Leftovers and The Affair) and all this after the The Comeback had a whole episode dedicated to skewering cable on this issue.
  • Everything Valerie Cherish.
  • Everything Abbi and Ilana.
  • “Looking for a Plot.”
  • Teen girls on The Americans avoiding the usual annoying teen trap many other dramas fall foul of.
  • And that every episode is a lesson in tension and an exploration on marriage and identity. It was my number one show in March and it still is in November (spoiler alert).
  • That Agent Carter got a second season and I now own the same lipstick as Peggy Carter.
  • The master class in acting delivered by Carrie Coon and Regina King on The Leftovers and for every insanely wonderful thing this show is doing. Also for Justin Theroux’s ability to look bewildered and devastated at any given opportunity.
  • The Villanueva women.
  • Getting to see Tatiana Maslany take on even more characters and make me forget she is playing everyone in a scene. And this wave.
  • Kroll Show going out on a high and creating this incredible universe where so many characters overlapped and intersected. And because I can’t say “Oh, hello” without wondering if there is too much tuna and I sometimes inadvertently say ‘Ameezing’ like I’m on PubLIZity.
  • The 12 Angry Men episode of Inside Amy Schumer.
  • Rob and Sharon on Catastrophe (even if the amount of things Sharon says that are like me is reaching a worrying level).
  • Shows that take will they/won’t they situations and turn them into yep they will. Oh hey there Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
  • All of Lady Gaga’s costuming on American Horror Story: Hotel.
  • Fargo indulging my love of all things 1970s clothing.
  • Daenerys’ dragon necklace.
  • The brief but amazing turn by Birgitte Hjort Sørensen on Game of Thrones.
  • Kit Harington Hair Watch.
  • Peggy’s cigarette smoking sunglasses strut.
  • Peggy roller skating.
  • The many times Mad Men made me cry.
  • Sally Draper.
  • Watching Felicity with Julie Hammerle and the time travel arc being even better than I imagined.
  • This Entertainment Weekly cover.
  • Master of None using THAT passage from The Bell Jar (which led to more tears – TV has made me cry a lot this year).
  • Jon Stewart’s last Daily Show (more tears).
  • All the incredible music I’ve ‘discovered’ thanks to shows such as GirlsOITNBMaster of NoneLookingYou’re the Worst and Togetherness.
  • No longer having “Drip Drop” stuck in my head.
  • The lighting on The Knick.
  • Oscar Isaac’s mustache/dad jeans and all the Bruce Springsteen used throughout Show Me a Hero. And, how the thought of this show hits me like a gut punch.
  • Every beautiful/fucked up thing they got away with on Hannibal this season.
  • Queen of ladysuits – Alana Bloom.
  • #LadySuitWatch2015
  • Superheroes on TV.
  • Jessica Jones’ leather jacket and her friendship with Trish.
  • Matt Murdock and this balloon.
  • Pre-emptive Mulder and Scully feeeeeeelings.
  • When Sherlock bought Joan the perfect outfit.
  • Every single one of Diane Lockhart’s statement necklaces.
  • Giving Maura Tierney and Joshua Jackson more screen time on The Affair.
  • All the wardrobe inspiration from so many shows this year and the always growing Wish List.
  • That I got to talk to three amazing costume designers and write about it.
  • The range in costume design and shows covered on here includes everything from period to contemporary to fantasy; I am thankful there is a vast amount to discuss and get inspired by.
  • Season 2 of Transparent is almost here!

The list is long and there are probably some very obvious things I have missed. I will get mad at myself later, but for now Happy Thanksgiving!

If you’re looking for Thanksgiving episodes to watch maybe take a rewind and watch these offerings from Felicity and Dawson’s Creek.

W Magazine New Royals Covers: Julianne Moore, Claire Danes, Adam Driver and More

10 Sep

September issues are done with for another year and the traditionally not so extravagant October cover roll-out is here. This doesn’t stop as they have gone big with their New Royals theme featuring six covers with rising stars and those who have long been playing a good game.

The unifying quality shared by these cover stars and those included inside is they are all ‘rule breakers’ with varying degrees of actual rule breaking. One thing that does link them is how fun and in some cases different the editorial choices are and it is one reason why is particularly good at these kinds of spreads; they go all out.

Julianna MooreFirst up is Queen Julianne Moore channeling her Boogie Nights days in full 70s inspired hair, makeup and fur.

Claire DanesSticking with the 70s theme is Claire Danes, but in a far more Cali boho fashion with loose curls and off the shoulder sparkle. This is a far cry from the trench coat Vogue cover which always comes to mind when I think of recentish Danes editorials (even though that was back in 2013 and she’s had warmer features since). Just before we enter Carrie Mathison territory it is good to see her looking so relaxed.

Greta GerwigGreta Gerwig looks just as likely to serve you a 5 o’clock cocktail, a witty put-down or an excellent piece of scandalous gossip in this shot and I love it. Floral pleats, red lip color and those super long lashes add to the drama.

Allison Williams coverThis caused a double take because it really does not look like Allison Williams and while ‘rule breaker’ is not a title I would associate with the Girls star this cover is definitely breaking the mold for Allison Williams cover shoots. And it means she joins #ladywatch2015 in a look which is half Patti Smith “Horses” artwork, half Blondie New Wave.

Adam DriverAnother Girls star and one who is more in line with the rule breakers theme; this is going to be a huge year for Adam Driver with Star Wars: The Force Awakens just a few months away and this image is incredibly striking.

Jourdan DunnA bowl cut is very hard to pull off and supermodel Jourdan Dunn is doing just this and with New York Fashion Week kicking off today we should be seeing a lot more of Dunn in the coming weeks.

Allison WilliamsBonus Allison Williams because she is doing a whole Fairuza Balk Almost Famous thing here and this is a sentence I never contemplated writing.

For more head to W Magazine.

Behind the Insta-Scenes: Photos from the Set

24 Jun

Midweek TV treat with a collection of some of the best Instagram posts including the Orange is the New Black cast returning to set for season 4, plenty more You’re the Worst shenanigans and saying goodbye to Orphan Black for another year.

https://instagram.com/p/4C3HZlyasH/?taken-by=americaferrera

Happy Ice Cream Truck Day! Raul Castillo and America Ferrera taking a break from filming their new Ricky Gervais Netflix series Special Correspondents. From this pairing alone, count me in.

Another super cute couple and the Orphan Black season 3 finale gave Helena several much needed victories including a brief hookup with her beau Jesse. They make a fetching couple even if Helena is wearing a mishmash of Alison’s clothes.

He wasn’t in the finale (I suspect there was some Game of Thrones filming overlap) but Michiel Huisman made sure he sent thanks to the Clone Club.

Silly string at a glance looks like a scratch filter to give a photo that old timey feel (even when it is pink) and Jussie Smollett celebrated his birthday with a large portion of the Empire cast.

Adorable Part One

Great things once again from the cast and crew of You’re the Worst and it has become the norm that I can’t pick just one photo. A season 2 premiere date would be lovely, please and thank-you.

Adorable Part Two

Super cute/sexy summer floral dress from Kether Donohue.

The boys! Oh hey Paul!

https://instagram.com/p/4R6ma6CtN6/?taken-by=januaryjones

I would always bet on Betty.

You might still be watching season 3 of Orange is the New Black but the cast are already back on set for season 4. Best news is Lea DeLaria has been bumped up to a regular and Boo’s friendship with Doggett is one of the strongest aspects of the current batch of episodes. Heartbreaking, touching and hilarious in equal amounts.

https://instagram.com/p/4SK_BUG6J1/?taken-by=msjackiecruz

More OITNB S4 onset antics and this one features a whole lot of hair (I was also a big fan of the Flaca storyline in season 3).

And here are the ladies in costume for an appearance on Good Morning America; it is really jarring how different they look with their hair done for morning TV rather than in character.

What I’m inferring from this is Jenny Slate is going to be on the next season of Girls* and her hair looks all kinds of amazing. And that prop joint does seem a little on the large side, unless of course they are going for a Withnail & I ‘Camberwell Carrot‘ approach and then it might be a little too small.

*Turns out I had forgotten that Slate appeared in season 1 as Hannah’s frenemy, Tally Schifrin from college who we met at her book launch for “Leave Me Alone.” Hopefully she will be reprising this role and this non-remembrance also tell me that I need to rewatch season 1.

Behind the Insta-Scenes: Photos from the Set

17 Jun

An ideal summer outfit, collaborations aplenty, dancing and more onset fun thanks to the glorious world of celeb Instagram photos.

If you are suffering from Mindy Project withdrawal then the second season of Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Hit Record on TV might be just what you need as Mindy Kaling dreamed up a short for the series and got the dancing Chris Messina to show off some of his skills in this department. Here are JGL and Messina performing in front of a green screen and the Hit Record site has a variety of making of videos to watch before the premiere.

https://instagram.com/p/3zYNp2uqeu/?taken-by=jennyslate

Ideal summer vibes outfit and food choice from Jenny Slate.

I miss Jane the Virgin. Luckily most of the cast are big Instagram users and there’s a lot of pre-Emmy chat surrounding this show.

#SquadGoals

TV’s Olivia Benson meets Taylor’s Swift’s Olivia Benson and all seems to have gone down rather well. No need to for any law or order (yes I will see myself out)

https://instagram.com/p/37nTY6ACIS/?taken-by=channingtatum

Now this is how you celebrate LA Pride and get the word out about your little dance movie sequel.

Now that season 3 of Orange is the New Black is available to watch the number of set photos has dramatically increased including this beauty.

And this one.

A Boo cup is top of the list of OITNB merch I am now interested in. Especially after the devastating and super satisfying episode 4.

https://instagram.com/p/37pDtmQPjh/?taken-by=busyphilipps

This drink looks really good and I love when TV friendships spawn into IRL forever BFFs (that’s a whole lot of caps).

https://instagram.com/p/32mLRgiMjF/?taken-by=maybeayacash

I think they did a pretty good job with the posing switcheroo.

Just remember to lock it up. Don’t want Hannah to lose another bike (after that episode last season I became extra paranoid every time I locked my bike up).

Music Monday: Orange is the New Black and “Coming Down” with the Closing Credits

15 Jun

While the main TV season is over there is still plenty to watch, obsess over and feel devastated about. While recovering from a particularly bleak and bloody Game of Thrones season finale (even by their bleak and bloody standards) we have a soothing song to start the new week. The third season of Orange is the New Black debuted on Netflix last Friday and I’m taking it at a relatively leisurely pace, which might be for the best as out of the first five episodes I’ve been emotionally broken by at least three of them. And this season was meant to be lighter.

OITNB S3Avoiding getting into too many storyline specifics because everyone is at a different place in their viewing schedule and offering up the vaguest of plot hints with this song choice. Orange is the New Black utilizes its credit music much in the same way as other Music Monday favorites such as Girls and Mad Men reflecting the tone of the final moments on screen.

“Coming Down” by Dum Dum Girls comes from the end of episode 3 “Empathy is a Boner Killer” and while some of the lyrics are a little on the nose for the action that is taking place on screen it is also a fitting track for the heartbreak several of the characters are expressing. The room definitely got a whole lot dustier as these scenes played out and hearing this track over the final credits meant that I didn’t just hit the menu button so I could dive into the next episode. Instead let this hypnotic track wash all over you.

Also getting a whole lot of Morello vibes from Dum Dum Girls lead singer Dee Dee Penny in the video for “Coming Down.”

Emmy Roundtable Season is Here!

28 May

You know the drill by now and while I can pretend I haven’t been checking various industry websites daily (okay sometimes way more than that) for their Emmy discussion coverage, anyone who visits TV Ate My Wardrobe at this time of year will be aware of my love of all things roundtable. The Hollywood Reporter kicked things off a couple of weeks ago with an interesting chat with writers from shows such as EmpireThe Good Wife and The Leftovers and now we turn to the comedy actresses.

The Hollywood Reporter has gathered a roll call of ladies I would like to get a boozy dinner with and covers network, cable, basic cable and streaming platforms; Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live), Ellie Kemper (The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Lena Dunham (Girls), Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin), Tracee Ellis Ross (Black-ish) and Amy Schumer (Inside Amy Schumer) discuss a range of subjects touching on racism, sexism and issues they have encountered in the work place. Sounds like a hoot, right? Oh, but it is.

THR Comedy coverThere’s a lot of jaw dropping revelations which sadly fall in line with some of the other industry stories making the rounds (such as Maggie Gyllenhaal is ‘too old’ and Salma Hayek has an accent). You can read the transcript over at the THR website, which is great and all, but the videos are where the real good stuff is at. In the past the full discussion has been released at the same time as the issue of the magazine, however this year we will have to wait until August when it will be available on THR.com and SundanceTV. For now we will have to make do with the clips they have made available on YouTube, which thanks to some editing makes it seem like the same question gets asked three times. Regardless of this choppy nature there is still plenty to unpack.

First up Amy Schumer discussing the incredible 12 Angry Men episode of Inside Amy Schumer and the inspiration behind it (so much rage/eye rolls at those dudes).

Good audition stories ahoy and by good I mean ‘Holy fuck! Hollywood is a garbage dump at times’ with Tracee Ellis Ross sharing a humiliating experience as well as talking about sexism and racism behind the camera.

Gina Rodriguez shares a similar WTF audition moment and I heart these women and their reactions to the crap they have to endure so hard.

On race and learning experiences Lena Dunham discusses the reaction to season 1 of Girls. Plus she also talks sexism and how her book advance was scrutinized. Plus I really want to know who the Girls guest star who spouted that awful shit is.

For a couple more videos from this roundtable head here and roll on August so we can watch the full thing (this will be my sentiment for all of these posts).

Comedy roundtableStyling wise they have stuck with the bold color palette and this tends to be the signature look for the comedy actress editorial, while the drama actresses usually get something a little more somber or on the more delicate end; see last year’s pastel, satin and lace for more (cue this year’s drama ladies in so much sparkle just to prove this theory wrong).

Check back for more Emmy related discussions in the weeks/months to come.
