Behind the Insta-Scenes: Photos from the Set

19 Aug

The steady stream of shows returning to set for the fall season continues and we’ve got a mix of weekly favorites such as The Mindy Project and Orange is the New Black with some new faces. Plus magazine cover flashbacks, editorial dance parties and some style highs on this week’s “Behind the Insta-Scenes.”

Jane the Virgin is back for season 2 in October (Monday 12) and the cast are looking all kinds of adorable as they sit down and fist bump over their first table read of the new TV year. And I just remembered Britney Spears is going to be on the show, which might send me down another happy Britney gif hole. I am more than fine with this.

Cute summer dress goals with a twist of 1960s inspiration courtesy of Mae Whitman – who killed it on the Teen Choice Awards red carpet – in Rachel Antonoff when she appeared on The Tonight Show. Whitman got to squish up with Kevin Spacey and Keegan Michael Key and various others in a phone booth and this dress held up well.

Morgan’s tattoo is making an appearance on season 4 of The Mindy Project but it’s Mindy’s Bedhead flamingo pjs that have caught my eye. Adding to the ever growing Mindy covet list.

It’s not just the ladies who are awash with color and print on The Mindy Project as Garret Dilahunt gives a sneak peek at his bold costuming. Dilahunt will be playing Mindy’s maternity leave cover and he thinks she is a ‘tacky idiot.’

I have definitely got some accidental #NOTASNAP videos on my phone from various nights out where stumbly fingers change the setting, but this one by Chelsea Peretti seems all purpose.

Also from the Brooklyn Nine-Nine set and could this be the return of the wolfie sweater? Or maybe just an old picture (her hair looks different so I’m leaning towards it making a comeback). I am so excited for the return of one of TV Ate My Wardrobe’s sweater and all round costume queens.

Your weekly dose of Orange is the New Black set life with Samira Wiley posting a photo on Instagram while she is looking on Instagram.

On set but not in costume with Jackie Cruz showing her support for the ‘free the nipple’ campaign in a cute crop top, jorts and Cons combo.

The cast of Empire are featured in the iconic Vogue September issue; all super glammed up and with plenty of dancing on set.

So here for old magazine covers, particularly ones which don’t really make a whole lot of sense. Like why did they think the licking of the face thing was a good direction to go in? It is definitely something different that’s for sure and I feel a lot better about this than the other face licking which has appeared on TV recently (I’m looking at you Scandal).

This has made me equal parts happy and sad; I’m still not over you, Carrie Diaries.

It’s a party over at Sleepy Hollow for Jenny Mills, the returning Joe Corbin and a mystery man played by Anthony K. Hyatt.

I didn’t see the first season of Secrets and Lies – did Ryan Phillippe do it? – but Juliette Lewis and her sharp dressing new cast mates are making me very intrigued for season 2.

Happy Wednesday!

Behind the Insta-Scenes: Photos from the Set

12 Aug

Saying goodbye, reunions, dancing and costume fun are all on the “Behind the Insta-Scenes” menu this week.

Jessica Williams put a selfie stick to good use backstage on Jon Stewart’s final Daily Show. That’s a whole lot of correspondents. Fun fact – my misty eyes started when Nancy Carell appeared, they leveled out for a bit and then Stephen Colbert destroyed me.

And a slightly less crowded group shot sans stick.

https://instagram.com/p/6Hb4K3qlTV/?taken-by=theladydockers

Downton Abby also ended its shooting run this week and Michelle Dockery says goodbye to Lady Mary’s bedroom (which will hopefully see some Matthew Goode action as I don’t want him to have left The Good Wife for nothing).

The You’re the Worst portion of this week’s “Behind the Insta-Scenes” starts with a rendition of Sunday Funday.

https://instagram.com/p/6OQZd4iMmv/?taken-by=maybeayacash

All the heart eye face emojis pointed in the direction of Kether Donohue and Aya Cash. I am once again left wondering what shade/color Aya Cash’s lipstick is.

https://instagram.com/p/6MOKegiMkQ/?taken-by=maybeayacash

Continuing her amazing sunglasses game off screen as well as on and digging the new shorter locks now they’ve finished shooting season 2 of You’re the Worst.

And one final You’re the Worst shot. I am so ready for season 2.

The magical fashion unicorn strikes again and Diane Kruger is making me covet suspenders even though I know it would look far more costumy and a lot less cool chic on myself.

Dancing up a storm at the Hamilton Opening Night after party and Lucy Liu’s dress looks fantastic here.

Okay this is pretty adorable and the only major difference is the facial fuzz they are both sporting.

Another teen show reunion and this one hits me on a much deeper level – a poster of Dawson and Pacey had pride of place in my bedroom when I was 14 – they are joined by Stephen Colbert for PaceyCon (or TCA).

TVLine’s Michael Ausiello and Hanh Nguyen took their TCA Awards duties to the next level by wearing costumes and wigs from The Americans to present Outstanding Achievement in Drama to this show. Matthew Rhys’ expression is as magnificent as his grizzly hiatus beard (which is more likely for his guest appearance on The Bastard Executioner)

https://instagram.com/p/6OheXCvGDM/?taken-by=teddysears

Teddy Sears has moved from Masters of Sex to The Flash and here is showing what goes on between takes.

I have a whole lot of feelings about this pairing on Orange is the New Black and this #TBT which goes back to the end of season 3.

https://instagram.com/p/6EJr7BpQ08/?taken-by=mindykaling

Taking a break from Mindy Project outfit wish list to show off her bump and a not so thrilled face.

https://instagram.com/p/6QgEbDHql3/?taken-by=maisie_williams

Blind contact lenses are not kind to Maisie Williams’ eyes and also lead to slightly surreal videos. Wishful thinking is that if Sophie Turner is with her then this means a Sansa/Arya scene is in the works (sadly I highly doubt this).

https://instagram.com/p/6QgQvMKohI/?taken-by=sophiet

Leaving you with this thought from Sophie Turner which in turn made me think of all those brief but all feelings encompassing bathroom friendships.

The Wish List: Mindy’s Star Jumpsuit

11 Aug

The Mindy Project isn’t back yet, but it does have a premiere date! Making the move from Fox to Hulu and season 4 returns September 15; it is a busy month for Mindy Kaling as her book comes out September 29.

On Instagram Kaling has been posting plenty of behind the scenes photos which means we get an early look at the many incredible costumes she will be wearing this year from fabulous maternity attire to Sliding Doors inspired alt-world party dresses. Kaling is excellent at mentioning where the clothes are from pointing out when they are custom made by Mindy costume designer Salvador Perez or which brand they are; making the Wish List hunt all the easier (if not all that affordable).

A baby is coming and Kaling posted a photo of Mindy’s bringing home baby look with super cute braided pigtails, a Vivienne Westwood Anglomania star print jumpsuit and Isabel Marant sneakers.

https://instagram.com/p/6OaPKDpQ3I/?taken-by=mindykaling

This jumpsuit ticks many boxes reminding me that this was the year I said I would try this garment. Well I tried one on in a store which was an instant no, but I should really attempt it again. Star print is a fave and not just for sweaters. Plus as you can see from the model photo below it also has the all important pocket factor.

VW jumpsuitIn terms of being a bit practical as a coming home with baby outfit the buttons will also help with any breastfeeding needs.

The Mindy Project is a Wish List staple so expect plenty more costume chat and where to buy them from in the coming months.

29 Jul

More shows have gone back to work and so TV Instagram is brimming with behind the scenes sneak peeks. Plus costume treats, reunions aplenty and some fantastic song/dance numbers.

It is summer TCA time and things kicked off yesterday with a whole host of Netflix panels including The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. And this joyous lip sync moment happened on the plane. It’s not Peeno Noir, but it is just as Flawless (I’ll see myself out).

Jenny Slate took over Bust’s Instagram in honor of her amazing cover and what better way to celebrate than with a kitchen dance party.

https://instagram.com/p/5qVlA-pQwo/?taken-by=mindykaling

The Mindy Project has found a new home on Hulu for season 4 and here are some of the cast back in action. Beard bonus points are awarded to Jay Duplass.

Ultimate #TBT time with one of my favorite actresses (and all important teen hair influencer) in one of my favorite places.

The You’re the Worst cast continue to rule TV Instagram with musical treats like this one.

And by showing off patterned costume delights like these.

Surprise friendships on Orange is the New Black played a big part in how much I enjoyed season 3 as it not only created new dynamics, but it also added to the emotional impact. Spirituality was also a big story driver and Soso found it hard to connect with anyone and spiraled; Poussey came to her rescue and hopefully this photo indicates that their friendship continues.

When Empire returns in September it will be interesting to see who falls in what camp and Jamal could be the most conflicted. Digging Cookie in polka dots.

Well protected on The Flash.

The morgue set on Elementary serves another purpose at lunchtime. Well it definitely looks like a decent size space for yoga.

Already coveting Watson’s prints and this blouse/dress might even pop up on a future Wish List.

Jane returned to Masters of Sex much to my joy and I cannot wait to see her in all the yellow (including this ensemble).

https://instagram.com/p/5m23rgyahx/?taken-by=americaferrera

A reunion of a different kind and this is pushing me closer to the Ugly Betty rewatch that I have been contemplating. Adorable.

Looking far happier together than when we last saw them on The Americans are Annet Mahendru and former cellmate Katja Herbers.

2015 Emmy Nominations Closer Look – Costumes (Updated to Include Winners)

17 Jul

Ah the Emmy nominations and the usual amounts of rage and joy were felt as the names were read out. There were the expected omissions which still caused the air to turn blue (The Americans getting nothing aside from writing and guest star and Jane the Virgin getting shut out) to the surprises (TATIANA) and out of the 14 performances on my wish list, 5 made the cut. Now let’s take a look at who has been nominated for costume design.

Game of ThronesThe costume design awards are split into two categories and unlike previous years which have mirrored the way the acting awards are divided between series and then mini-series/TV movie/special they are now organizing it by contemporary and period/fantasy. This makes so much sense and it means contemporary shows which have been overlooked in the past now get their chance to shine.

That being said there are still a few notable omissions and I cannot understand how Janie Bryant’s work on Mad Men has not been recognized. It is baffling when you consider the influence and impact this costuming has had on the way we talk about costume design (see everything to do with “Mad Style“) and runway trends. I would maybe understand if the final season of Mad Men was lacking in the nomination department overall and yet it has 11 in total.

Adding to this list of snubs with shows talked on a weekly basis here at TV Ate My Wardrobe include Ane Crabtree’s exquisite work on Masters of Sex, Jenny Gering’s subtle take on early 80s and all things excellent spy wear on The Americans and while I have fallen out of love with Scandal, Lyn Paolo’s costume design and all those wine cardigans are still on top of the game. Not to mention Diane Lockhart and Alicia Florrick’s executive attire that goes beyond boring pantsuits on The Good Wife thanks to Daniel Lawson.

One super bright and pattern filled comedy has been nominated and I am thrilled to see Salvador Perez’s name on there for The Mindy Project, but it seems like there is only room for one color soaked comedy as Tina Nigro is sadly not included for The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

Going through the full list of Emmy nomination ballot submissions means I am also now sad that the “Sunday Funday” episode of You’re the Worst missed the cut (there are SO many good costumes in this one) along with the Val episode of Broad City, Halloween on Looking, the pilot episodes of Agent Carter and The Knick, plus the amazing coat filled season 3 opener of Orphan Black. I’ve only seen the first couple of episodes of Outlander and yet I know this is another big disappointment and it straddles both period and fantasy elements.

Of course not everyone can be nominated but as I scroll through the list there are some really disappointing entries that didn’t make it. Hannibal was not eligible for voting and so the initial lack of murder suit outrage was quickly subdued.

By submitting a specific episode we can see exactly which pieces they are being judged on and I am so pleased to see Daenery’s incredible dragon neckwear is featured in the Game of Thrones “Dance of Dragons” choice. Empire has two nominations and the costume design team has changed between the pilot and full season with both getting recognized.

The full list of nominees:

Mindy Kaling’s Amazing Cannes Film Festival Fashion Parade

21 May

Mindy Kaling is a regular TV Ate My Wardrobe style fixture for both her on and off screen attire (and The Mindy Project will return) so Kaling’s recent overseas adventure has made me all a fashion fluster. This week Kaling has been showcasing her sartorial flare at the Cannes Film Festival in a variety of daytime pretty and stunning evening frocks documenting all these wardrobe changes on Instagram.

Appearing as the voice of Disgust, Kaling has been promoting the new Pixar movie Inside Out along with former Office co-star Phyllis Smith and Amy Poehler; the film has been getting a tremendous reception with plenty of tear inducing moments (I am so screwed if recent reactions are anything to go by).

Inside OutI love this photo so much with Poehler and Smith going for striking patterns while Kaling opts for a Roksanda Ilincic color block sleeve dress.

The detail is in the accessories with a fantastic Les Petits Joueurs clutch and Kimberly McDonald jewelry.

https://instagram.com/p/20wD7lJQ_E/?taken-by=mindykaling

And for some close up Poehler/Kaling giving good sunglasses face (with a surprise appearance from John Lasseter).

https://instagram.com/p/20wXEzpQ_s/?taken-by=mindykaling

Same day and a quick change as the ladies are joined by their Inside Out co-star Lewis Black all wearing 3D glasses to match the color of their character. More bold choices across the board embracing the sunny climate with Kaling killing it in matching Alexander McQueen flower collage jacquard skirt and crop top.

Inside Out CannesFor the big evening event Mindy opts for someone who knows her very well in custom Salavador Perez. Perez is the costume designer on The Mindy Project and he has created several other beautiful gowns in the past for these big events; it is clear why she trusts him.

Mindy KalingSimple, elegant and striking; working bold color blocking in a way her earlier dress choice hinted at.

Continuing fun fashion choices the following day in a floral mesh Sachin & Babi Noir F/W15 frock. Later on Kaling switched out her heels for Cons (as you can see in the video below maybe as a nod to Emily Blunt’s comments on the whole Cannes shoe controversy).

https://instagram.com/p/23CdEoJQ1v/?taken-by=mindykaling

And finally while Kaling has generally been playing in the red/pink/purple wheelhouse she ends things with jeans, black top and a splash of yellow in Tory Burch doing the cool chic jacket slung over her shoulders thing. The Edie Parker clutch from earlier in the day also works wonders.

https://instagram.com/p/234ihAJQ12/?taken-by=mindykaling

Rounding this all off with the aforementioned Cons and a chat via The Hollywood Reporter about why you shouldn’t try and erase things from your past (you might end up in a sticky Back to the Future situation). Amy Poehler’s glasses are also excellent, as is her new hair color. Basically this has been a very good Cannes for Inside Out and its cast.

Good News/Bad News for The Mindy Project – Now Just Good News (Update)

7 May

Let’s get the bad news out of the way first and Fox has decided to not go ahead with a fourth season of The Mindy Project. However and here is the good news for Mindy fans (myself included) as it has been suggested that Hulu will be its new home with The Hollywood Reporter suggesting there will be a two-season order.

Last season ended on a cliffhanger with another big Danny gesture and there is still plenty of story left to tell with the central pairing (including how they both deal with parenthood). Plus where else are we going to see so many colorful and pattern clashing incredible outfits?! I need my Mindy fashion fix.

The Mindy Project 3.01So the ratings have not been good and it makes complete sense from a business perspective why Fox has cut the cord, plus unlike New Girl Fox doesn’t own the show, Universal does. It does perform well with streaming so Hulu is the ideal platform to take the reins. The Mindy Project has never been a ratings smash and the constant changes to the cast is not a good way to reinforce stability; however one aspect has been consistently brilliant throughout and this is the central relationship between Mindy and Danny. I have written many posts on the whole ‘will they/won’t they‘ aspect followed by how they successfully navigate the ‘what next?‘ and The Mindy Project is always at its best when it deconstructs/plays with/pays homage to the rom-com genre both Mindy Kaling and Mindy Lahiri adore.

So far Mindy Kaling hasn’t commented on this development aside from posting a video to her Instagram from Montana where she currently is. The wink and smile at the end would suggest this is not the end for The Mindy Project.

https://instagram.com/p/2XZR_LpQ6O/?taken-by=mindykaling

In other Mindy Kaling news we now have a release date, cover photo and synopsis for her next book Why Not Me? I loved Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (even if it is a title which is hard to say out loud) and this one sounds just as good:

In Why Not Me?, Kaling shares her ongoing journey to find contentment and excitement in her adult life, whether its falling in love at work, seeking new friendships in lonely places, attempting to be the first person in history to lose weight without any behavior modification whatsoever, or most important, believing that you have a place in Hollywood when youre constantly reminded that no one looks like you.

In How to Look Spectacular: A Starlets Confessions, Kaling gives her tongue-in-cheek secrets for surefire on-camera beauty, (Your natural hair color may be appropriate for your skin tone, but this isn’t the land of appropriate–this is Hollywood, baby. Out here, a dark-skinned womans traditional hair color is honey blonde.) Player tells the story of Kaling being seduced and dumped by a female friend in L.A. (I had been replaced by a younger model. And now they had matching bangs.) In Unlikely Leading Lady, she muses on Americas fixation with the weight of actresses, (Most women we see onscreen are either so thin that they’re walking clavicles or so huge that their only scenes involve them breaking furniture.) And in Soup Snakes, Kaling spills some secrets on her relationship with her ex-boyfriend and close friend, B.J. Novak (I will freely admit: my relationship with B.J. Novak is weird as hell.)

Mindy turns the anxieties, the glamour, and the celebrations of her second coming-of-age into a laugh-out-loud funny collection of essays that anyone whos ever been at a turning point in their life or career can relate to. And those whove never been at a turning point can skip to the parts where she talks about meeting Bradley Cooper.

You can head to the Why Not Me? site for updates plus a look at the cover and it will hit bookstores September 29.

https://instagram.com/p/2tXgkwpQ7-/?taken-by=mindykaling

Update!

Not surprising is the wonderful news that Mindy Project lives and will air its fourth season on Hulu. One big surprise is the amount of episodes Hulu has ordered as instead of a speculated 2 seasons they have instead gone for a whopping 26-episodes for this new season. Plenty of time for shenanigans.

Let’s start a dance party now.

The Mindy Project, Nora Ephron and the Many Roads Traveled

22 Mar

Commenting on Nora Ephron’s influence on Mindy Kaling is not like cracking an undiscovered code as the references to Ephron’s work in style and tone weaves its way through The Mindy Project. The nods come in a variety of ways and yet this is no copycat as Kaling’s voice is clear and her own; instead she uses what are now considered rom-com tropes (some of which Ephron pioneered) as jumping off points to subvert or celebrate.

The Mindy ProjectMindy Kaling’s love of this sadly currently much maligned genre (good rom-coms still exist with indie dominating in the decent stakes) is worn on her sleeve, sometimes also covered in hearts. With The Mindy Project this season we have seen what happens after the credits normally roll on a rom-com movie, as the couple has beaten whatever obstacle split them up mid story and they ask “What next?” This entails crossing into potentially creative choppy waters by turning a “will they/won’t they” couple into Facebook official and with whole new set of plot points to keep the tension high. Other shows have tried and failed with curses being cited to explain why others should be wary of attempting this shift. And of course we know the curse talk is bs; there are plenty of shows which have proved this and The Mindy Project is a shining example of why a “will they/won’t they” couple should take the plunge rather than forever dancing around maybe.

Returning to the influence factor and I recently bought The Most of Nora Ephron – an anthology of Ephron’s writing both fiction and non-fiction – and while I’ve previously read a lot of these pieces (and they’re so worth rereading) some are completely new to me. Quotes stand out with “Above all, be the heroine of your life, not the victim” being one of the defining Ephron sentiments, but it was while I burned my way through this book that I realized I had never read or seen the speech it came from in full. It is Nora Ephron’s commencement address to the Wellesley Class of 1996 which unleashed this inspiring notion (I say this in all sincerity while also eye rolling at myself) and one which is particularly relevant to Mindy’s journey this season.

In it Ephron discusses the dreaded ‘having it all’ debate and she manages to do it in a way which elicits fist pumps, giving the kind of confidence boost I mentioned in reference to Broad City last week. Here is a big, fabulous section which feels like it rather successfully points to Mindy Lahiri’s journey this season.

“Maybe young women don’t wonder whether they can have it all any longer, but in case any of you are wondering, of course you can have it all. What are you going to do? Everything, is my guess. It will be a little messy, but embrace the mess. It will be complicated, but rejoice in the complications. It will not be anything like what you think it will be like, but surprises are good for you. And don’t be frightened: you can always change your mind. I know: I’ve had four careers and three husbands. And this is something else I want to tell you, one of the hundreds of things I didn’t know when I was sitting here so many years ago: you are not going to be you, fixed and immutable you, forever.”

Mindy faced messiness and triumph in both her personal and professional life this season; she moved to San Francisco to further her career and moved back to New York to create something of her own. With Danny there have been bumps along the way and a bump of another kind changes this dynamic in an unplanned way for the couple. While everything is moving with some haste – which could be attributed to uncertainty about renewal – the confidence with how The Mindy Project has plotted the Mindy/Danny arc reads like the message in Ephron’s address.

For most of this season TV Ate My Wardrobe has focussed on the amazing costume design elements and along with the Mindy/Danny pairing this is where Mindy really shines. Yes there are other elements which are still on the messy side including the supporting cast revolving door – miss you, Adam Pally – and Jeremy’s been through so many tweaks it’s hard to remember which version of this character we are now viewing.

The season 3 finale is tonight, hopefully not the series finale because I want to see how Mindy and Danny will handle the next stage in their life and I want to see how this show will deal with having a baby. Their work place is babies, not their home life and we don’t tend to see any even there. Plus I like the idea of Mindy playing Ephron’s five things game:

“We have a game we play when we’re waiting for tables in restaurants, where you have to write the five things that describe yourself on a piece of paper. When I was your age, I would have put: ambitious, Wellesley graduate, daughter, Democrat, single. Ten years later not one of those five things turned up on my list. I was: journalist, feminist, New Yorker, divorced, funny. Today not one of those five things turns up in my list: writer, director, mother, sister, happy. Whatever those five things are for you today, they won’t make the list in ten years—not that you still won’t be some of those things, but they won’t be the five most important things about you.”

Confidence will bleed through and I’m pretty sure hot will definitely be on there no matter how many different roads present themselves for Mindy Lahiri; I just really want to see this next part of her journey.

Behind the Insta-Scenes: Photos from the Set

18 Mar

Season finales, editing food breaks and a whole lot of PaleyFest and SXSW style shots are part of this week’s TV Instagram roundup.

Let’s get to it!

https://instagram.com/p/0IZuOjux_4/?taken-by=dansackheim

Dan Sackheim is directing the season finale of The Americans and while his series of shots pretty much gave nothing away (except for an all important turtleneck Philip costume choice), I have a feeling some airport shenanigans are going to take place. The giant plane logo being the giveaway. I would make an excellent spy.

https://instagram.com/p/0MKEgypQ9L/?taken-by=mindykaling

Continuing the theme of good gift givers, Stephen Colbert adds his name to the list. Now I really want fancy ice cream in funky packaging.

https://instagram.com/p/0N7McctoMO/?taken-by=amypoehlersmartgirls

This is cute. Real life couple feels.

https://instagram.com/p/0SoKmiDFtz/?taken-by=gillianjacobs

Gillian Jacobs retains her TV Ate My Wardrobe Style Queen crown in Novis at SXSW. I haven’t seen the new Community yet, but I’m pretty certain I will be very into the stripe sweaters Britta will no doubt be sporting.

So here for all things Amy Schumer related. Red dress yes.

Gina Rodriguez and Yael Grobglas are PaleyFest cuties and this week’s episode of Jane the Virgin somehow made me ship Petra and Rafael. I blame the dog.

Behind the Insta-Scenes: Photos from the Set

4 Mar

Guest stars, saying goodbye, a premiere date for one of our favorite shows and more behind-the-scenes action in this midweek TV Instagram roundup.

The answer to “Where is Clyde?” is quite easy this week.

https://instagram.com/p/zspjsbCtGc/?modal=true

It turns out that people don’t hate laughing as the numbers for Last Man on Earth’s debut are rather good. Hopefully it continues this way as I enjoyed the heck out of these first two episodes and Will Forte is still a dreamboat even with the super grizzly beard (his beard level in the photo above is pretty great).

https://instagram.com/p/zvmXoOzRFa/?modal=true

On Monday Netflix announced when season 3 of Orange is the New Black will be available (June 12) allowing us to plan ahead and book the day off work. The cast of OITNB has a huge presence on Instagram and Dascha Polanco went for this cute inventive way to announce this date.

Slightly less artistic but still getting the message across is Laura Prepon with hashtags at the ready. And the bonus news for Alex/Piper fans – or anyone who watches the show really – is that Larry will not be showing up.

https://instagram.com/p/zwHIs3pQ1m/?modal=true

LAURA DERN IS MINDY’S OB/GYN?! Yeah I’m pretty excited about this and the guest stars on The Mindy Project this season have been A+ (which is why so many of them have featured in this column).

There is so much bad photoshop used on both TV and in movies when it comes to splicing two photographs together and it has a habit of taking you out of the moment (see also using promo photos for what are supposed to be framed family shots and The Americans triumphs in this area by not doing this). Not so on Looking and I totally believe that this is a photo of Doris and Dom from their teen years and not two separate photos of Lauren Weedman and Murray Bartlett. Dom + Doris = ❤

This episode (and season) of Looking is fantastic and so here is bonus dudes being all adorable photo.

https://instagram.com/p/zxwsF0tMy3/?modal=true

Yep Damon Wayans Jr. is leaving New Girl and I agree with Hannah Simone. I also think this might be another jumpsuit I might like.
