Comic-Con is here! As I’m writing this there are still many panels to go and this is the tip of the Comic-Con style iceberg, which is a whole lot like PaleyFest and TCA in that it varies from super casual cool to the dressier end of the scale.
Today we have both in the menswear department from the open air IMAX world premiere of Star Trek Beyond kicking things off in San Diego this week. There is also a dash of politics and more movie screenings.I really miss Selfie and reading Jon Cho’s comments in this amazing and insightful interview with Vulture about this show only adds to this sense of sadness about its early cancellation:
“Selfie was a chance for me to be centered, confident. There was some kind of stillness to the character that I felt was much more me than any other person I played.”
Henry was also a suits kinda guy and Cho looks great at the Star Trek Beyond premiere in this blue number.Normally I might shake my head at how casual this look is for a premiere of a movie that someone is in, but Idris Elba has the best reason for shorts and sneakers as his suit was lost at the airport. Plus he still manages to crush it and look cool as fuck despite this wardrobe mishap.
This week I cleaned out my closet and it was no surprise that stripes were the dominant staple; at the Star Trek Beyond premiere Christian Slater shows that dudes can do this style just as well and my only slight negative note is going sockless with loafers.
The iZombie cast are taking a quick break from starting shooting season 3 and have headed to San Diego for Comic-Con and they presented at the MTV Fandom Awards last night (July 21). The split up the front of the dress is having a big revival this year and while I’m still not completely sold on this trend, I do really like the color, texture and floral print of Rose McIver’s frock and it is ideal for this event.
Looking forward to seeing more from the iZombie cast in San Diego and check back for more Comic-Con style coverage over the next few days.Co-stars supporting co-stars in other projects is my fave and Danielle Brooks is on hand at the screening of Uzo Aduba’s new movie Tallulah (which played at Sundance and I am looking forward to seeing). Brooks looks fabulous in another floral dream this week; wearing a Fuzzi frock and ASOS silver pumps and Aduba goes classic in a black dress and strappy shoes.
A slightly different spin on the co-stars supporting each other format and Jon Stewart made a much welcome and needed return to late night with a couple of appearances this week on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Stephen Colbert shared this photo from last night’s show on his Twitter and this brings me so much joy in this bonkers political week/month/year.
Jon’s still working his fantastic post Daily Show beard and clip on ties are dangerous to chest hair and not a great sartorial choice, but everything about the above shot is wonderful. Plus Stephen scrubs up well even when he is poking out the side of his desk.

Miss you, Jon.
