Behind the Insta-Scenes: Photos from the Set

20 May

The first half of this week’s Behind the Insta-Scenes is pretty much a game of spot the CW star unleashing a whole world of even more crossover potential if these photos are anything to go by. Plus saying goodbye to Mad Men and spending more time with the cast who are dominating behind the scenes shenanigans at the moment.

First up ‘How many CW actors can you fit in one selfie?’ courtesy of Arrow’s Emily Bett Rickards. Cute bow tie, Carlos Valdes.

Followed by ‘How many CW stars can you fit in an elevator?’ selfie thanks to Paul Blackthorne (Team Arrow cast is killing it with these group shots).

An almost all Jane the Virgin cast with another group photo taking place in the background; stacks and stacks of selfies. Definitely into Jaime Camil’s glasses, however I have a feeling Rogelio would not feel the same way.

The crossovers continue on board the plane with Grant Gustin taking a peak at Jane the Virgin’s Brett Dier from a few rows back.

And while I recover from the emotionally draining and brilliant Flash finale here is a very cute outtake from the recent Variety issue.

I adore Petra on Jane the Virgin so let’s continue the CW love with this very comfy looking yellow rug and Yael Grobglas.

And one cake covered last night of shooting for a CW star as Nina Dobrev departs The Vampire Diaries.

After I watched the Mad Men series finale this made me cry. It’s been an emotional week (yes it’s only Wednesday).

In so much agreement with this and Peggy’s ending made me very happy.

Photographer Lisa Guerriero shares some shots from the Mad Men set including this close up of Peggy’s plaid and polka dots. This was a repeat season 7 outfit; Peggy wore it when Joan gave the best answer to a lunch question and alone in the office when she spilled coffee all over the floor.

Also from Lisa Guerriero (whose work we also featured here) and a sneak look at break time activities.

The You’re the Worst cast continue to be the best at this including Huey Lewis and the News serenading.

Alan Cumming lops off his Eli Gold locks as a way to mark the end of the current Good Wife season.

Coachella style has a tendency to make my eyes hurt (far too much fringe) and Hannah Simone’s outfit is a pretty delight in a sea of “WHY?”

Very misty looking eyes on Nina Dobrev’s last day and the cast of The Vampire Diaries has done a thorough job of documenting this big departure.

As is the tradition when I watch Game of Thrones let it be known that I just yelled ‘wolfie’ at the screen.

While I’m talking GoT here is one new cast member I can’t wait to see appear and Birgitte Hjort Sørensen is a TV Ate My Wardrobe favorite from her role on Borgen. Very into her super 70s looking dress and excellent Iron Throne poise.

New York Fashion Week 2014: Day 1 and 2 Fantasy Costuming Round-up

8 Feb

It’s day 3 of New York Fashion Week and there’s already been runway shows galore. We thought we’d share some of our favorite looks so far from the fall 2014 collections and as the weather is still pretty terrible there’s a lot of knitwear and coats that look pretty enticing. What we’re going to do is some quick fire fantasy costuming from 10 different runway shows.

Kate SpadeJess wears a lot of Kate Spade on New Girl and the bow detail on this plaid coat is perfect for Ms. Day. As is the sparkly dress that is peaking out below it.

Kate Spade NYFWMindy doesn’t wear a lot of pants on The Mindy Project, but she does have an extensive collection of coats and this beautiful one from Kate Spade is very much in her bold color wheelhouse.

Kate Spade 2014It’s not 1950s vintage, but Kate Spade’s three-quarter length sleeve coat is very Virginia Johnson from Masters of Sex. The purse and gloves are heaven as are the brogues. The hat is super cute but maybe not for the Johnson look.

Charlotte Ronson 2014For Elizabeth Jennings when she is on some spy recon that might require a slight flash of leg on The Americans or this Charlotte Ronson skirt and sweater would probably be Britta’s idea of what a psychologist should wear on Community.

Creatures of Comfort 2014April from Parks and Recreation is all about the plaid and while I’m not sure if she’d be all that into the neckerchief, this Creatures of Comfort outfit is pretty April to me.

Nonoo 2014Scandal’s Abby has the best hair on TV (ok joint with Connie Britton) and her raven locks would look great with this dress from Nonoo and it is Scandal office appropriate.

NonooWhile I’m not loving the shiny Nonoo pants, this layered looking sweater is fantastic and is very Annie Edison on Community.

Tanya TaylorThis dress by Tanya Taylor screams Marnie from Girls – PS I hope she hooks up with Ray again on this week’s episode. I don’t know why I ship this couple but I do.

Rebecca MinkoffKate from Trophy Wife would look fantastic in this Rebecca Minkoff leather mini. The coat and blouse add a hint of office wear sophistication while still looking pretty cool. Alternatively this could be another Abby from Scandal outfit.

Rag & BoneRag & Bone are taking their cues from the ’90s and while this is very My So-Called Life I’m going to give this hooded sweater to Ilana on Broad City. I would switch the skirt for some short shorts.

Coach 2014Another April Ludgate outfit, this time from Coach.

CoachFlashback fantasy costuming with Coach and this would be ideal for Felicity Porter for her sophomore fall semester and we can pretend she doesn’t chop all her hair off on Felicity.

Peter Som 2014Olivia Pope loves a belted coat and this patterned Peter Som piece represents the chaos that surrounds her life on Scandal at the moment.

Peter SomAlana Bloom tends to wear a lot of pattern on Hannibal and this visually arresting Peter Som dress would look fantastic on her. The blurred floral imagery could mirror how uncertain things are going to get for this season as she works to prove that Will is innocent.

Tadashi ShojiMoving onto beautiful dresses with Tadashi Shoji and Mellie on Scandal always looks stunning in primary colors; it’s a strong contrast to the Olivia Pope neutral palette and this royal blue gown would look killer at a White House function.

Tadashi Shoji NYFWRed is one of Alicia Florrick’s power play costume colors and as we saw at the fancy soiree in season 4, Julianna Margulies looks as stunning in scarlet formal wear as she does in the courtroom on The Good Wife. This Tadashi Shoji dress would be a great addition to her closet.

Tadashi Shoji 2014One show that loves grand parties no matter what the theme or body count is The Vampire Diaries and the final of the three Tadashi Shoji beautiful gowns is so Elena (or Katherine). Basically Nina Dobrev should wear this.

Look out for more coverage of New York Fashion Week from TV Ate My Wardrobe.

Out of the Box: Look of the Week

15 Nov

Party season has started and this is a red carpet focused “Look of the Week” as one show celebrate its 100th episode, both women and men are celebrated by Glamour magazine and GQ as everyone begins there “who was awesome in 2013” lists. This year has flown by and this in now the 31st edition of “Out of the Box.”

Nina Dobrev Naeem KhanThe Vampire Diaries celebrated filming their 100th episode at the weekend and Nina Dobrev looked stunning in a super colorful Naeem Khan dress. It’s a bold, super short affair and this is the perfect kind of dress for a celebration like this as it’s not something that requires a fancy floor length gown. When a dress has what can be best described as mythical looking My Little Pony pictures on it and looks this awesome you know we’ve got an instant win.

America Ferrera Glamour awardsAmerica Ferrera has opted for the more traditional LBD at the 2013 Glamour Women of the Year Awards and while I would have probably opted for a bolder shoe color, it’s a great look. This is also the perfect excuse to talk about Ferrera returning to The Good Wife this weekend. We haven’t seen Ferrera’s character Natalie Flores since season 2 and while I can’t remember all the details as to why she left in the first place, I do know that Eli has a thing for her and a flustered Eli is the best kind.

Darby StanchfieldIt’s been a good year for Darby Stanchfield as she’s had an endless stream of red carpet hits as well as an excellent on screen fashion transformation on Scandal this season. Stanchfield looks fantastic at the GQ Men of the Year Awards in an Emilio de la Morena gown that is a little different. It’s a dress of two halves with a lacquered-bodice giving it a super sexy edgy feel that is complimented by the demure skirt in a slightly lighter burgundy shade. Pairing gold strappy heels with a gold and green clutch adds a flash of fancy to the look without overwhelming it. Stanchfield has ditched the heavy eyeliner and curly hair that Abby has been favoring this season and has instead gone for a simple hair and fresh faced approach. Stanchfield’s hair still stands out even in this slicked back style and her raven locks are the perfect color for this dress.

Austin Butler and Vanessa Hudgens

It’s unusual for Vanessa Hudgens to feature on these pages as her usual style is a little bit too boho chic for me (and there is often some form of crochet) but this Thakoon number is delightful as is her date Austin Butler. Yes there is still a lot of love for The Carrie Diaries around these parts and he’s pulling off the perfect date attire at the CFDA and Vogue 2013 Fashion Fund Finalists Celebration.

Out of the Box: Look of the Week

1 Nov

Halloween episodes, fancy historical balls red carpet events, award season shenanigans begin and excellent street style all feature on this week’s “Out of the Box” so let’s get to it.

Warren as Ellen Trophy Wife[Source]

It’s the second week in a row that Trophy Wife features on “Out of the Box” as almost everyone gets to place dress up as part of their Halloween extravaganza. There is an array of costumes from Pete’s lawyer visual gag (a hung jury), Jackie’s Elizabeth I (that she thought was Marie Antoinette and Kate mistook for Lady Gaga), Diane’s super scary gargoyle and Kate’s centaur on wheels (courtesy of Jackie). The only person who didn’t indulge was Hillary and it is her brother Warren as Ellen DeGeneres that wins my best costume prize. Warren attempts everything with such enthusiasm including this costume even though he is hopped up on pain meds after a dental procedure and this makes his routine even funnier and hard to understand.

Bert Iron Man Trophy Wife

Bonus Trophy Wife costume mention goes to Jackie’s literal interpretation of who or what Iron Man is, luckily Bert did end up with an actual Iron Man suit and Trophy Wife once again nails the cold open with a very funny visual gag (last week involved Diane and Skype). Having such a huge cast could be problematic but so far this show is doing an excellent job with all the different groupings and because they are all part of the same family in one way or another these moments don’t feel contrived. The only character who they are finding it hard to organically involve is Meg and this is a shame as Natalie Morales has been great so far despite her limited screen time. Margaret Lyons at Vulture includes Bert and Warren in her piece on the “era of awesome weirdo kids” and I’m looking forward to seeing what Trophy Wife will do next (an early plea of “please don’t cancel this show”).

Caroline TVD Bonnie and ClydeIt wasn’t Halloween on The Vampire Diaries but they still got to play dress up thanks to a ball with a historical theme. Caroline is half of the Bonnie and Clyde and she’s pretty much a dead ringer for the Faye Dunaway’s Bonnie from the 1967 movie. Awesome Caroline is my favorite on The Vampire Diaries so I hoping this season goes beyond her pining after Tyler because she is so much more than that.

Julianna Margulies

Considering how amazing last Sunday’s episode of The Good Wife is, it’s not surprising to see Julianna Margulies with a smile this big. The red flared-skirt Philosophy coat is another reason to look happy and my outerwear envy is at an all time high with this outfit. Both the reception and the ratings were high for the appropriately named “Hitting the Fan” and it’s easily one of the best hours of TV that I have seen this year as Alicia and Cary left Lockhart/Gardner and the house of cards fell down and got propped up and then fell down again (depending on which character we are talking about). The Good Wife has shown that even in its fifth season it can do bold things and I can’t wait to see how this will impact the rest of the season.

Chanel Little Black Jacket Event

Diane Kruger is showing exactly why she is has been part of TV Ate My Wardrobe’s Look of the Week on so many occasions in this Chanel Spring 2013 Couture dress at the Little Black Jacket Chanel event in Sao Paulo. The red leather belt and floral embellishments make this a simple but stunning outfit choice. There isn’t anything too fussy about Kruger’s look and the strappy saddles/lack of accessories works and is complimented by the hair down and fresh face makeup approach.

Michael B Jordan[Source]

The Emmys were over a month ago and award chatter has moved onto movies and we can look forward to months of pre Oscars chat with some TV thrown in with the Golden Globes – where we’re mostly looking forward to Tina and Amy hosting and maybe boozy stars. One face that I am so excited to see in the mix is Michael B. Jordan for his performance in Fruitvale Station. Jordan is part of The Hollywood Reporter’s actor roundtable discussion and he talks about influences on his career such as The Wire’s David Simon and Friday Night Lights creator Peter Berg.

It’s worth a watch and the discussion covers stereotypes in Hollywood, what it’s like to portray a real person, roles they’ve turned down and terrible auditions including Jake Gyllenhaal’s Lord of the Rings disaster. The problem with these roundtables is they barely scratch the surface and switch topics at a rapid pace so just when something is getting interesting they move on.  Jordan comes across as thoughtful and smart  and I want all the good things to happen for him. Style wise he has been killing it on the red carpet this year.

Out of the Box: Look of the Week

20 Sep

It’s the Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday which means there are parties aplenty and with the earlier Creative Arts Emmys happening last Sunday we also have some winners looking fabulous as they pick up their accolades. So let’s get straight to it.

Creative Arts Emmy Awards Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series - Dan Bucatinsky

Dan Bucatinsky plays Cyrus’ husband James on Scandal and he picked up the Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series on Sunday night. It was a tough category that also featured Michael J. Fox (The Good Wife) and Rupert Friend (Homeland) and in a heartfelt speech he mentioned how wonderful it is that he can thank both his onscreen husband and real life husband. Wearing an amazing Alexander McQueen Dogtooth Jacquard tuxedo, Bucatinsky showed there are options for men beyond just the standard black tux and the Scandal cast is one of the most stylish both on screen and on the red carpet .

Carrie Preston Emmy

The Good Wife has a huge amount of excellent guest stars and Carrie Preston plays one of my favorite recurring characters; Elsbeth Tascioni. Tascioni’s quirks could come across as forced but Preston shines in this role and so I was delighted to see her win for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series on Sunday. I’m also a sucker for a cape and while most of the red carpet looks at the Creative Arts Emmys played it safe, it was good to see Preston trying something a little different.

Kerry Washington Emmy party

People magazine named Kerry Washington the World’s Best Dressed Woman this week and I’m definitely not going to dispute this title; who else could pull of this bubblegum pink ruffled Halston Heritage dress without looking like a Barbie doll?! The white shoes/clutch and matching lipstick to the dress color could be seen as accessorizing overkill but for some reason it works. All eyes will be on Washington on Sunday and she is high on my list of most anticipated red carpet arrivals. The Outstanding Actress in a Drama category is incredibly strong and my loyalty is split three ways between Washington, Elisabeth Moss and Claire Danes.

Tina Fey, Allison Williams

From last night’s Hollywood Reporter Nominees Night party both Tina Fey and Allison Williams have opted for the simple and effective black dress approach. It might be the similar outfit choices and natural makeup look but they could definitely play sisters in something. Along with Kerry Washington’s gown another thing on my Emmy anticipated list is what Amy Poehler has planned for the announcement of the Outstanding Actress in a Comedy category that Tina Fey is part of; previous years have included a silly glasses, mixed up speeches and a pageant approach. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are also slated to present at the Emmys this weekend.

Candice Accola

While The Vampire Diaries isn’t nominated for anything, Awesome Vampire Caroline herself Candice Accola attended the Hollywood Reporter party and looked, well awesome. This is another occasion where matching lipstick color to the dress actually works and while the nude shoes are not my favorite this is a really good look for a party that doesn’t require a full on gown. The dress is really cute with the bow belt and Rorschach like image (it’s definitely a butterfly).

Darby Stanchfield

As I’ve already mentioned the Scandal cast are just as stylish off screen as they are on it and Darby Stanchfield bookends this week’s Scandal filled post. This outfit could look a bit too business but as it’s a skirt and crop top this gives it a party edge. The clutch and statement ring add flare to the look and I love the belted detail that helps break up the grey tweed. Once again Stanchfield has avoided her Abby like super straight hair and opted for the wavy approach; as always I have long auburn hair envy.

London Fashion Week: Color Blocking and Patterns

17 Sep

It’s the last day of London Fashion Week and the bold color/print trend that started in New York has continued as more designers debut their Spring 2014 collections. We’re going to be taking a look at runway photos from Burberry Prorsum, Christopher Kane, House of Holland, Jasper Conran, Roksanda Ilincic, Temperley London and Mary Katrantzou. As usual we’re going to play a bit of Fantasy Costuming with a quick fire round.

Burberry dots and stripes

From Burberry Prorsum this polka dot/striped infusion outfit might be a bit out there for work wear – if Ugly Betty was still on I would suggest this for Amanda – and while Robin from How I Met Your Mother tends to play it safe I’d like to see them be a bit more daring with her costuming. Failing this Leslie Knope would totally rock that blouse on Parks and Recreation.

Christopher Kane

The Vampire Diaries is heading to college in season 5 and this funky Christopher Kane mini dress could serve as an excellent outfit for Elena. This is Mystic Falls so parties are aplenty but this will give them a chance to swap their fancy frocks for something less constricting. The blood stains might be easier to get out too.

House of Holland checks

House of Holland’s mixed checked skirt and blouse is a new twist on picnic blanket chic and while both pieces together might give you a headache, I can see Jess from New Girl wearing either one of these as it matches her bright and girly style.

Jasper Conran yellow

Masters of Sex is set in the 1950s and while they might want to stick with vintage, if they want something new with an old twist then look no further than Jasper Conran’s Peter Pan collar dress as it would look good under Virginia Johnson’s lab coat. This is my most anticipated new fall show; for both the costuming and because I’m so happy to see Lizzy Caplan in a starring role.

Roksanda Ilincic yellow

I basically really want this Roksanda Ilincic creation for myself (yellow is my weakness) and if we were to ever see Olivia Pope divert from her usual color palette then I’d love to see this on Scandal. Failing that can Kerry Washington wear this on the red carpet?

Temperly long dress

It might just be because of this shot but this dress by Temperley London looks like it needs someone to strut with purpose in it and this is something that Alicia Florrick tends to do whenever she is in evening wear as all parties on The Good Wife tend to feature legal related woes. Who wouldn’t want a dress they could be dramatic and swish in? Once again this goes against the usual color blocking that we see in Alicia’s costuming, but it’s a beautiful gown that would look stunning on Julianna Margulies.

Mary Katrantzou shoes

Carrie Bradshaw is all about the shoes and the 1980s version in The Carrie Diaries would look amazing in these Mary Katrantzou brogues.

Now That’s What I Call TV Music (2012-2013 Season)

21 May

Since My So-Called Life and Dawson’s Creek, TV has been one way that I discover new music. Things have changed a lot since the mid-90s and now you can have access to a song within minutes of hearing it on a show. MTV no longer has the influence it once did and the days of spending hours watching music videos have long gone, though MTV is still represented on this 2012-2013 playlist. Some shows like GirlsNew Girl and The Carrie Diaries (it turns out I really like the music from the pilot) feature more than once on the list and there are 19 tracks that represent a variety of moments; some incidental while others might drastically change a relationship.

girls bad friends dancingWhile I’m not going to into specific reasons for each song choice some deserve explanation; “Stay” by Lisa Loeb has featured on both Girls and New Girl, Lisa Loeb ended up with Rufus Humphrey on Gossip Girl so this sealed its inclusion (plus I was a teen in the mid-90s so this song will always hold a special place). When I first saw The Americans pilot I mentioned on Twitter that I like the ‘jaunty’ opening track revealing that I know nothing about Fleetwood Mac (I’m hanging my head in shame), now I understand the power of “Tusk.” The LMFAO track is from one of my favorite moments on Parks and Recreation this season when Anne and Leslie had their impromptu dance party. Ellie Goulding earns her place for being part of a huge New Girl moment and the same applies for The Vaccines “I Always Knew.” Some tracks feature from shows that I haven’t seen all season (How I Met Your MotherAwkward) or only saw a few episodes (Nashville) but were suggestions from some lovely folk on Twitter.

I’m sure there are some great tracks that I haven’t included so what would be on your 2012-13 TV playlist?

Here are the tracks featured, including which show/episode they were on and you can click on the Spotify box below to listen. Enjoy!

1)      I Love It – Icona Pop ft. Charli XCX (Girls 2.03 “Bad Friend”)
2)     Blue Monday – New Order (The Carrie Diaries 1.01 “Pilot”)
3)     Tusk – Fleetwood Mac (The Americans 1.01 “Pilot”)
4)     I Always Knew – The Vaccines (New Girl 2.25 “Elaine’s Big Day”)
5)     Burning Down the House – Talking Heads (The Carrie Diaries 1.01 “Pilot”)
6)     Black Tambourine – Beck (The Good Wife 4.22 “What’s in the Box?”)
7)     Super Rich Kids – Frank Ocean ft. Earl Sweatshirt (Gossip Girl 6.05 “Monstrous Ball”)
8)     Party Rock Anthem – LMFAO ft. Lauren Bennett (Parks and Recreation 5.05 “Halloween Surprise”)
9)     Bad Girls – M.I.A. (The Mindy Project 1.01/1.24 “Pilot” and “Take me with You”)
10)  Anything Could Happen – Ellie Goulding (New Girl 2.23 “Virgins”)
11)   Don’t Leave Me (Ne Me Quitte Pas) – Regina Spektor (Girls 2.04 “It’s a Shame About Ray)

14)  Nancy From Now On – Father John Misty (Girls 2.05 “One Man’s Trash”)
15)  Stay – Lisa Loeb & Nine Stories (Girls 2.04 “It’s a Shame About Ray” and New Girl 2.23 “Virgins”)
16)  Girls Just Want To Have Fun – Greg Laswell (The Carrie Diaries 1.01 “Pilot”)
17)  Fade Into You – Clare Bowen and Sam Palladio (Nashville 1.03 “Someday You’ll Call My Name”)
18)  Gone – Olivia Broadfield (The Vampire Diaries 4.23 “Graduation”)
19)  I Was a Fool – Tegan and Sara (Awkward 3.05 “Indecent Exposure”)

Out of the Box: Look of the Week

19 Apr

It’s “Look of the Week” time! Once again there has been a rich amount of different costumes across various shows this week. This is a snapshot of what I have been watching and each pick is for a variety of reasons including; what it adds to the storyline, what it tells us about the characters involved or simply because it looks good. Or because it is funny.

Winner: Elena Gilbert in The Vampire Diaries “Pictures of You”

Pictures of You

It’s Senior Prom on The Vampire Diaries this week and there were a lot of beautiful gowns on display. It’s not surprising that Nina Dobrev looks incredible as Elena in this dress, but the reason why I have picked this as the “Look of the Week” is thanks to the circumstances in which she ended up in this attire. Elena is currently a very different character to the one that we have seen over the past four seasons as she has no humanity at the moment. This version of Elena is a bitch who mean girls her former BFF’s with cruel jibes and she steals the dress that she helped pick out for Caroline (it’s ok Caroline still manages to find a stunning alternative). How long Elena is going to remain like this is unclear and as the season is nearing the end this would suggest not for long, but she’s been entertaining to watch and it has given Nina Dobrev another chance to shine playing yet another variation of this character.

Runner Up: Ron Swanson and April Ludgate in Parks and Recreation “Article Two”

Ron and April hats

It’s the second week that April has featured and originally I was going to just focus on Ron, but the pair of them having to endure a management teaching seminar was too good to not include both of them. Really this is all about the way both of them have such disdain for the hat that Chris is making them to wear.

P.S. I really want April’s shirt.

Runner Up: Joan Harris in Mad Men “The Collaborators”

MM_RJ_603_1119_0739

Joan hasn’t featured too heavily in this new season of Mad Men (and really I hope that changes with the next episode), but in her limited screen time she managed to remain strong and focused in front of the man who she was essentially sold to last season (Joan also managed to get in one excellent dig “I know there’s part of you that you haven’t seen in years”). Joan keeps her cool and only lets this facade drop when she goes into Don’s office and pours herself a big glass of vodka. This strong blue and red outfit gives the impression of strength and it is something that Joan exudes in her brief moment in this episode.

Runner Up: Elizabeth Jennings in The Americans “Covert War”

Elizabeth Jennings

It’s not uncommon for an episode of The Americans to feature multiple looks for lead characters Elizabeth and Philip Jennings and “Covert War” included several; Elizabeth-centric flashbacks showed her in 1964, 1971 and 1976, Philip appeared as “Clark” and there is a new look for the pair as they went off book with a mission that is incredible personal for Elizabeth. We have seen Elizabeth in an array of seductress costumes (starting with the opening scene of the pilot) and this time she opts for a crossword loving, scarred beauty. The endless supplies of wigs that this pair have access to is fascinating and I’d really love to see the person who hooks them up with these disguises (if I had to work as part of a spy agency I would like to work in the costume department). I do still have wig fear that in a romantic moment one of their wigs will accidentally come off (Martha and “Clark” seems like the obvious choice for this).

Who would you choose as your look of the week?

The Why of it All

12 Apr

A long time ago (ok in 2009) I started writing a blog that focused primarily on TV and since then I have been lucky enough to start writing for several other websites, that also mostly focus on TV. The amount of words that are typed daily on this subject continues to grow and so I thought I would add a few more. The other sites I primarily write for give me opportunities to write about current shows including Mad MenNew Girl, The Good Wife and The Vampire Diaries (for TVOvermind) and I also get to dive into the past for This Was TV where teen shows such as My So-Called Life and Freaks and Geeks have been my focus.

So why start up a new blog? The simple reason is that I want to write more and quite often I’ll have an idea that I will either jot down it down in one of my many notebooks or start a word document and only get to the end of the first paragraph. To demonstrate this ultimate procrastination here is a sample of titles that are on my computer:

Friday Night Lights– why this show is important

I have learnt nothing from all the crimes shows I have watched

Sarah Lund as McNulty

The Comedy of Optimism

What Lipstick is she Wearing?

Some of these titles are self-explanatory (Friday Night Lights) and others seem more random – guess which one I wrote after my phone was stolen. Going back and reading these pieces (or intros to articles forgotten) I felt guilty for not having followed through, even if some of the ideas weren’t all that great to begin with. As I’ve mentioned above, I am quite the procrastinator and a lot of this is achieved by reading great work by other writers, writers that I admire and want to emulate but half of the time I should focus on what I am doing rather than wistfully working my way through half of the TV criticism online.

This is what I am going to and these half written ideas, that sometimes don’t even have titles will become fully fledged and live here. Why name this blog “TV Ate my Wardrobe?” Someone close to me has observed that a lot of my Twitter TV observations and Tumblr posts revolve around fashion and costuming in television and while this won’t always be the central theme of this blog, it felt like a good place to start. There will also be some jazzing up of the blog as time goes on and rather than let my procrastination get the better of me (like it often does) I wanted to launch this site before I talk myself out of it.

So enjoy and any feedback would be much appreciated!
