Behind the Insta-Scenes: Photos from the Set

24 Aug

Lots of Emmy prep this week including dress choosing, shoes I want to see on the red carpet and hitting the campaign trail. Plus fun guest stars, going back to work with Master of None and our weekly updates from the sets of You’re the WorstJane the Virgin and iZombie.

Met a wonderful woman today @reallyndacarter

A post shared by Melissa Benoist (@melissabenoist) on

Older superheroes appearing on current superhero shows is one of my favorite guest star subgenres.

It seems like a good sign that Aziz Ansari has not rushed making season 2 of Master of None. And that they will be shooting in Italy. Once again I am going to want to eat all the pasta.

“The recognition was such a shock in the first place, but the outrage was the most shocking for me. That people actually cared whether I was nominated or not, that they felt they had a stake in it, I think that was such a testament to our fans who are so supportive of us. They’re the only reason we have a show because they sort of forced people to watch (laughs). The critics have been good too. We’re really lucky to have been championed by people who have some influence on what people watch. For me, it felt like it was for the fans that that nomination came through; it really felt like a communal thing, it was for us that the show got recognized. But by no means did I ever expect it, or seek it out, or think I deserved it. It’s a world I don’t necessarily feel part of. I’m just baffled to be in the company of actors like Robin Wright—it’s wild to me. These are women who’ve been working for years, who have such a body of work and such a legacy, and are changing television. It’s just really surreal to be in that company.” -@TatianaMaslany for AwardsLine @Deadline #OrphanBlack #EmmyForMaslany

Emmy campaigning continues and Deadline has another interview to be savored. This time it is with Tatiana Maslany and the above quote and series of images is a pretty good example of why we heart Maslany hard. To read the whole wonderful interview head here.

A different form of Emmy prep and Constance Zimmer gives a sneak peek into the what dress to wear dilemma.

Oh hey @Gucci #TIFFfittings

A post shared by Ilaria Urbinati (@ilariaurbinati) on

I would love it if someone wears these really fun Gucci heels to the Emmys. Far better than anything in the beige range.

Also on the Emmy trail (as well as promoting S2 of Mr Robot – here is my latest Mr Robot costuming piece) is Rami Malek and on The Late Show he took his first Instagram photo. Leaning in completely with a selfie stick shot.

Bonus video of this moment/Rami demonstrating his loveliness.

Aya Cash got a new dog and her Instagram feed is now about 75% Lucy and 100% delightful.

Prop issues on the set of iZombie.

Food issues on the set of iZombie.

I would say this is a selfie success.

Everything about the look on the kid (or one of the kids) who plays baby Mateo on Jane the Virgin is precious.

Fall TV season is almost here and this means lots of Insta reminders (which I am so grateful for).

Behind the Insta-Scenes: Photos from the Set

17 Feb

That very busy time of year when it is not only New York Fashion Week, but the awards keep on coming and shows are returning/are deep into their filming schedule. It is good for “Behind the Insta-Scenes” as there is plenty of variety this week.

One week! We psyched!

Happy Broad City Day! We are very excited to have Abbi and Ilana back on TV and this picture of a Polaroid is a delight (and means I am no longer questioning the times when I have posted a photo of a Polaroid).

Repost by @sabongui. A little BTS of Earth2!

A post shared by Candice Patton (@candicepatton) on

On Earth-2, Iris has super wide legged pants and I am so here for this futuristic retro look.

Meanwhile Grant Gustin is also moonlighting over on Supergirl; Gustin and Melissa Benoist do look very good together. I really need to catch up on Supergirl before this episode happens.

This episode. Ultimate Valentine’s Day sobs.

Tyra might have a few pointers, but I give this picture a 10 with the added bonus of more Lucca Quinn patterned costuming treats.

Constance Zimmer’s very on point sweater this weekend gets extra points for the Galentine’s tag (and now I’m sad I forgot to include Rachel and Quinn in this post – next year).

There needs to be a word for something that is even more than just #SquadGoals when hangouts like this one take place.

NYFW is all over Instagram including many runway shots and this one from The Cut’s Stella Bugbee captures the fluidity and pretty from the Altuzarra show.

Jill Stuart dress delights – which you will be able to see in full as part of “Out of the Box” – courtesy of Zoe Kazan.

Cats and couture.

A very sweet BAFTA pre-party selfie with Emilia Clarke and Bel Powley.

Now this is an amazing Cookie look – fur, leather, pattern clashing, sunglasses – it has everything. Empire is back in just over a month.

Agent Carter hair secrets – it is all about the curlers.

Seeing double on Jessica Jones.

Super serious morning on the set of #Scandal. 😆

Thankfully there’s a lot more laughter and a lot less animosity behind the scenes on Scandal without all the romantic dramaz.

HOT

A post shared by Sarah Silverman (@sarahkatesilverman) on

I’m just gonna go ahead and assume this is Michael Sheen and also very much agree with Sarah Silverman’s straight to the point caption.

Totally fulfilling the ‘cast mates who are friends when not at work’ sweet spot.

NYFW Fantasy Costuming: Kate Spade New York Fall 2016 RTW

13 Feb

New York Fashion Week is here and with it the return of Fantasy Costuming. Kate Spade New York is one collection we are always look forward to seeing because you can pretty much guarantee bold color and pattern; the new Fall 2016 Ready-to-Wear collection does not disappoint.

For Kate Spade’s last NYFW offerings we concentrated on picking outfits for characters on comedies and while this is also the theme here some drama does sneak in.Kate Spade NY MindyMindy Lahiri is all about the mixing of colours, prints and textures and she’s got a vast collection of plaid coats already so this cape is the perfect addition to her closet. She would also rock the shit out of this pink blouse on The Mindy Project.Kate Spade NY RTW fallMore for Mindy and this is probably what she imagines she would look like if she was a spy. All it needs is a pair of sunglasses and some binoculars to complete the look.Kate Spade RTW FallThis season on Elementary Joan has been embracing all things collar detail with bows and ascots aplenty, which makes this the perfect getup. Joan isn’t against wearing color especially when it comes to bold print dresses and blouses, but black and white attire is her predominant choice and I can definitely see her in leather and stripes. Probably not the swan bag though. Kate Spade RTW Fall 2016Gina Linetti is the TV Ate My Wardrobe sweater queen and stripes are staple sweater material. While Rosa has the leather jacket thing down on Brooklyn Nine-Nine this one is better suited for Gina thanks to the sheepskin detail.Kate Spade NY NYFWSuper cute office wear for Supergirl herself, Kara Danvers.

Kate Spade NY ShoshGirls returns next week and what better time to think about all things Shoshanna than now. Shosh is a fashion chameleon carefully planning her outfits to match the scenario/activity. The black turtleneck has a cool ‘take me seriously’ arty vibe, but the sunglasses and polka dot jumpsuit add a playful edge which suggests a casual date sitch (if Shosh could go on such a thing). I also think she would take a spy aesthetic from at least half of this outfit. Kate SpadeThis is for Shoshanna again and this is either a fancier date or first day at a new job ensemble. The ruffled sleeves add an edge to the prim and proper matching floral scarf and skirt.Kate Spade JTVSpeaking of dates I can see Jane wearing something like this when she goes on her first date with no longer her advisor Professor Chavez. It is funky without being too try hard.Kate Spade RTWFor when New Girl gets its titular character back from jury duty and Kate Spade New York/this dress is ultimate Jess attire. Same with those very cute rosette shoes.Kate Spade Aya Cash part 2This is not a leap, but after seeing Aya Cash rocking a very similar look IRL I now want to see Gretchen show up in something similar on You’re the Worst. It’s not really her usual style, but could work for a fancypants event like a book launch (for Jimmy one day) or something job related.

Stay tuned for more NYFW posts throughout the week.

Behind the Insta-Scenes: Photos from the Set

20 May

The first half of this week’s Behind the Insta-Scenes is pretty much a game of spot the CW star unleashing a whole world of even more crossover potential if these photos are anything to go by. Plus saying goodbye to Mad Men and spending more time with the cast who are dominating behind the scenes shenanigans at the moment.

I kidnapped them all.

First up ‘How many CW actors can you fit in one selfie?’ courtesy of Arrow’s Emily Bett Rickards. Cute bow tie, Carlos Valdes.

Followed by ‘How many CW stars can you fit in an elevator?’ selfie thanks to Paul Blackthorne (Team Arrow cast is killing it with these group shots).

An almost all Jane the Virgin cast with another group photo taking place in the background; stacks and stacks of selfies. Definitely into Jaime Camil’s glasses, however I have a feeling Rogelio would not feel the same way.

I'm creepin on @brettdier.

A post shared by Grant Gustin (@grantgust) on

The crossovers continue on board the plane with Grant Gustin taking a peak at Jane the Virgin’s Brett Dier from a few rows back.

And while I recover from the emotionally draining and brilliant Flash finale here is a very cute outtake from the recent Variety issue.

I adore Petra on Jane the Virgin so let’s continue the CW love with this very comfy looking yellow rug and Yael Grobglas.

And one cake covered last night of shooting for a CW star as Nina Dobrev departs The Vampire Diaries.

After I watched the Mad Men series finale this made me cry. It’s been an emotional week (yes it’s only Wednesday).

Peggy and Stan Forever:)

A post shared by Elisabeth Moss (@elisabethmossofficial) on

In so much agreement with this and Peggy’s ending made me very happy.

Photographer Lisa Guerriero shares some shots from the Mad Men set including this close up of Peggy’s plaid and polka dots. This was a repeat season 7 outfit; Peggy wore it when Joan gave the best answer to a lunch question and alone in the office when she spilled coffee all over the floor.

Also from Lisa Guerriero (whose work we also featured here) and a sneak look at break time activities.

The You’re the Worst cast continue to be the best at this including Huey Lewis and the News serenading.
