The busiest red carpet week since award season was over with the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner on Saturday and the Met Gala extravaganza on Monday. There are still plenty of other events delivering on the sartorial front with the Tony Awards ‘Meet the Nominees’ press junket, a Netflix Jessica Jones screening and other outings. Plus a fun game of ‘What scenario does Sam Heughan’s Interview editorial make you think of?’Michelle Williams looks cute and chic in a Louis Vuitton (of course) black number at the Tony nominee press shindig; in not shocking news I am obsessing over her embellished collar. Michelle wasn’t included in my Met roundup (I liked the look, but not for the Gala) which was a super hard choice because I really loved the super chunky boots all the LV ladies wore; I would maybe switch out her black pumps here for those boots. While I’m on the subject of shoes; Lupita Nyong’o in flats makes me so happy (because I do adore a flat) and she looks incredibly fresh in a peach lace crop top and skirt. Plus on Instagram, Lupita gives a close up shot of the Tony nominee pin that is the accessory of this celebration.A pure moment of joy from Danielle Brooks and I am excited that Taystee will be back in my life next month (June 17). Plus stripes and leather pleats are very much in my fashion wheelhouse so excellent daytime event outfit choice. Krysten Ritter goes all in on the crimson theme in Altuzarra and bold lip color. Gold spiky Louboutins and a Jimmy Choo clutch finish off a fabulous look courtesy of TV Ate My Wardrobe stylist fave Ilaria Urbinati. Also at the Jessica Jones FYC screening is the other half of one of the best lady friendships on TV right now and Rachael Taylor’s Dion Lee dress looks perfect for swishing in. And for the whole cast hanging out check out this week’s “Behind the Insta-Scenes.”Apparently all I need to like sheer is equal amounts of wine color velvet to break it up and a fantastic velvet collar to boot. Rachel McAdams looks great at the Sonic Sea screening and this is such a good hair length on her.

Trench coats and particularly Burberry trenches are my weakness and Claire Danes in a patterned number from Burberry is ticking SO many boxes.

Interview is on a roll with the TV dudes at the moment and this Sam Heughan photo shoot led to a very fun conversation on Twitter regarding what kind of character you get from the Henley/neckerchief wearing attire above. The interview is also fun and Heughan gives off so many delightful vibes.

Celebrating the end of The Good Wife and the Time 100 Gala in this edition of Look of the Week. Plus fashion campaigns, magazine photo shoots and other events with plenty of sartorial delights on offer. The cast of The Good Wife celebrated the last ever episode at a screening event in New York followed by an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. I’ve opted for photos from the latter as I’m having a jacket moment and this pink and black Antonio Berardi is given an unexpected edge here.More coat and dress delights and what I would give for Christine Baranski to wag her finger at me like this. Priyanka Chopra joins the #LadySuitWatch2016 list in a super sexy white ST. studio by Olcay Gulsen number at the Time 100 Gala.

I’ve stuck with Quantico until the last couple of weeks when I maybe forgot it was on and I think this might be me done with this show, which is a shame as I really like Chopra but the plot twists got too silly and convoluted for me to care about anything taking place on screen. Instead I started to note who has what buttons undone of their training Henley and who wears a round/v neck tee. Also at the Time 100 Gala; Karlie Kloss wore purple to honor Prince and this Victoria Beckham dress is simple and elegant. Part of me is picturing a white babydoll tee and a pair of Cons because my brain automatically shifts back to the 90s with this silhouette. What a great going to watch a play outfit and Jessica Chastain looks fantastic in swirly green and black at the opening night of Long Day’s Journey Into Night. The Louis Vuitton campaigns are among some of my favorites (see Michelle Williams and Alicia Vikander) and Léa Seydoux’s debut for this brand is no exception. Another striking image and I cannot wait to see this in both print and digital editions of fashion magazines. Stripes on Iwan Rheon are a very good look and bravo Interview for this four shot showcase. Rheon discusses auditioning for Game of Thrones before it aired as he went up for Viserys and Jon Snow. On the latter he explains how close he got to playing someone else:

“I think it was between me and Kit [Harington], which is quite crazy. It could’ve been so different. I’d be dead now. [laughs] I think they made the right choice; it would’ve been a very different Jon Snow if I’d played him. I don’t think there’s much point in dwelling on these kind of things. You’re inevitably going to know other actors going up for parts and you have to be open about it. The majority of the time it’s a specific thing they’re looking for, which could easily come down to how you look, and there’s not an awful lot you can do about that.”

Rheon also auditioned for Daario at the same time as Ramsay so there is a lot of variety in the parts he went for and I think the casting team chose well across the board. To read the rest of this interview head here.

Out of the Box: Look of the Week

It is an all Tribeca Film Festival offering this week and TV got in on the action with panels for shows such as Broad City, The Good Wife and Mr Robot. As with a lot of these events the outfits range from the fancy end to casual cool, which makes for a very fun and varied “Out of the Box.The Broad City panel took place before the ABC morning TV drama and season 2 guest star Kelly Ripa moderated. Ripa is one of my favorite ever Broad City guest stars and not just because my go to gif about pizza is one featuring her. I am very much in favor of this argument and Ripa in this whole debacle because there are certain words that only ever get used about a woman when she has been fucked over.

Completely unrelated to the behind the scenes stuff going on, but her outfit here is really cute. Abbi and Ilana look funky and panel ready with the option to go out after in this attire. Abbi’s shoes are stacked strappy greatness and Ilana’s hair is giving me curl envy. The Good Wife is in farewell tour mode and normally I might be bothered by the presence of such a new cast member, but Cush Jumbo’s Lucca Quinn has been one of this seasons highlights from her funky styling to filling in the much needed Alicia friend position. Plus she gives such great side eye. Here at the Good Wife Tribeca panel Jumbo’s Michael Kors frock is my favorite of the three looks, but Julianna Margulies and Matt Czuchry are also killing it in the panel style stakes. Rounding things out on the three co-stars posing together front are Mr Robot’s Christian Slater, Carly Chaikin and Rami Malek. Oh and season 2 has a premiere date; Wednesday, July 13 and you can see them discussing the show here.

At the event Carly Chaikin wore something you might see pop up on Elementary as it is very much in the Joan Watson wheelhouse, which I am very much here for and I would very much like a pair of those Aryn Glasser pants. Malek and Slater are both doing their top button thing and this is one cool looking cast.Recent “Out of the Box” columns have been awash with color and print, but this week there are quite a few variations on black classic outfits including Gillian Jacobs at the Dean premiere. The ruffled neckline and detailing makes this more than just a run of the mill black dress.
And Viola Davis puts a cutout spin on this black fit and flare frock at the Custody premiere. Lots of really great strappy sandals and nail polish combinations this week too and I can finally crack out some color for my toes. On the effortless end of the scale Sarah Jessica Parker does denim with a pair of SJP ‘Echo’ gold booties, long sleeve grey tee and a brown jacket at the #ActuallySheCan film series event.Ending things on a dapper note and Tom Hiddleston has a lot of projects to promote at the moment and he continues to wear suits very well. Hiddleston is another Ilaria Urbinati client and anyone familiar with TV Ate My Wardrobe and award season will know how much I love Urbinati’s work, particularly on the menswear end as she dresses her dudes in suits of all colors. Here Hiddleston is in a brown Dolce & Gabbana while on the High-Rise trail (a movie in which he wears suits well).

Out of the Box: Look of the Week

This week sees a lot of regular “Out of the Box” faces and a whole host of events from daytime celebrations to premieres and panel discussions. Plus Teen Vogue continues to blow their adult counterpart out of the water in the cover stakes. Bold pattern continues to reign strong and there is a lot of awesome lady inspiration below. Last week Lupita Nyong’o’s Variety magazine cover for their annual Power of Women issue caused all the heart eye emoji reactions and here she is at the event honoring the work of this year’s recipients. Wearing a lime green daisy embroidered Dolce & Gabbana; Nyong’o is a springtime vision with a hint of 60s to her look. Excellent lipstick choice too.Danai Gurira was also in attendance supporting Lupita who is currently starring in her Broadway play Eclipsed. This is the perfect day dress for this event and looks good without drawing too much focus from the person who is being honored. This is also Gurira’s second week in a row on Out of the Box and she is crushing it in a variety of styles this year from super cool jumpsuits to flowing frocks.Confirmation airs on HBO tomorrow (Saturday 16) and Kerry Washington recently took part in a Times Talk with Anita Hill; the woman Washington is portraying in the movie. This Carolina Herrera dress reads serious with a hint of whimsy in the floral and pink sheer trim. SJP Collection shoes top it all off and Washington looks great. Emily VanCamp in J Mendel at the Captain America: Civil War premiere with a ‘just the perfect amount of beardy’ Chris Evans. The fact they are posing together gives me some hope that Emily VanCamp’s Sharon Carter will get quite a lot/something to do in the new movie (even if she doesn’t really feature in the trailers at all).Game of Thrones season 6 is almost here and Emilia Clarke has been hitting the promo train hard on magazine covers, at the premiere and the MTV Movie Awards. This might be my favorite of the three recent looks we’ve featured as this face emblazoned Miu Miu dress is unusual in the most mesmerizing way. Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s “Fresh Faces” Marie Claire cover is striking and at the party celebrating this issue she stood out in a delightful star emblazoned – perhaps as a nod to the stars on cover – Coach 1941 dress; which I am now coveting hard. Teen Vogue’s cover game this year has been so strong and their Willow Smith May issue is another captivating image choice. As with other recent teen covers (including another one Smith appears on) there is something beautifully disarming in the direct look to camera and the accompanying interview/editorial is just as interesting.

Out of the Box: Look of the Week

Last week spring fever was in the air with a whole array of bold patterns and color; this edition of “Out of the Box” is a little bit more varied with some very fun outfits, fancy awards wear and more magazine cover stunners.Despite my white clothing reservations – because I am a spiller – Danai Gurira crushes it at Black Girls Rock! in this very cool Cushnie Et Ochs jumpsuit number that wouldn’t look out of place in Studio 54’s heyday. Gurira is on a red carpet hot streak and all I can say regarding Walking Dead is Michonne better not be the one on the end of Jeffery Dean Morgan’s bat. More white and Caitriona Balfe does the whole casual ladysuit thing with aplomb at the Television Academy’s Outlander panel discussion. A simple and super cool twist on one of my favorite trends and I’m looking forward to all the incredible costumes when Outlander returns tomorrow (Saturday 9). Alison Pill in a very cute outfit at the premiere of The Night Manager and one that a) is perfect for someone who isn’t in the project of the event they are attending and b) something I would like to see in my closet.At the Olivier Awards Uzo Aduba took a break from performing in The Maids and looked elegant in this orange off the shoulder Elizabeth Kennedy gown. And now all I want is a bag shaped like a ball. Making their official debut as a couple at the Olivier Awards, which makes this sound like we’re stepping out of a society novel and also maybe trying to shift attention from the question Kit Harington has been asked repeatedly since the Game of Thrones season 5 finale.

This isn’t news for anyone who follows celeb dating stories (which I do), but I am always thrilled when IRL couples walk the carpet together especially when their characters were also together on screen. I’m not a hundred percent in love with the shape of Rose Leslie’s gown, but the color and pattern is stunning.And by Look of the Week I mean look of the week. The shipping of Marcia Clark and Chris Darden was the biggest surprise to come out of American Crime Story (something I wrote a little bit more on in my Observer column this week). Here are Sarah Paulson and Sterling K. Brown at an American Crime Story For Your Consideration event earlier this week; up close I really like Sarah Paulson’s frock, but that level of sheer in the wide shot and lining does not do it for me.Another striking Lupita Nyong’o magazine cover as part of Variety’s annual “Power of Women” issue celebrating her work with Mother Health International. Excellent trench and background color elevate this shot, but Lupita’s face is what really makes this a standout image.The Gilmore Girls revival is in full swing and because I am only just finishing up season 1 (I know) I am avoiding reading this Entertainment Weekly article and looking at the photos until I’ve caught up; it is going to be hard but also that is totally on me.

They both look great and I particularly like Alexis Bledel’s ensemble and lipstick (of course). It’s weird seeing them in clothes that don’t give me all the flashbacks to early aughts fashion nightmares.Emilia Clark put a sparkly bird on it wearing Gucci on her Glamour cover and there’s a lot of chat about nudity on Game of Thrones including Michiel Huisman’s “perfect bottom.”

Spring is here and the red carpet is awash with florals and bold patterns at the premieres for The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Confirmation. Don’t ditch the coats just yet though as the weather has a habit of turning in an instant and there is also fabulous outerwear among the pretty dresses this week. Plus more magazine cover sensations, talk show entrance attire and the FX Upfronts.Kimmy Schmidt has one of television’s brightest wardrobes and star Ellie Kemper doesn’t disappoint in a very cute Tanya Taylor floral mini-dress, which works wonders against the pink backdrop and purple carpet.Speaking of bold turns and Tituss Burgess lights up the purple carpet in a look that makes me want to crack open a bottle of Pinot by Tituss to celebrate. Kimmy Schmidt returns in 2 weeks (April 15) for season 2. Now to see if I can finish Daredevil before then.Another floral sensation with Kerry Washington in romantic Dolce & Gabbana at the Confirmation premiere (airing Saturday, April 16). My only quibble is it could do with being slightly shorter as it is a tad overwhelming, but on the whole this is a style which we have seen Washington nail on multiple occasions; embracing print sets her apart from the character we see on a weekly basis.Hypnotic black and white flower power from Regina King and the only thing this really needs is perhaps a bolder lip color, but that tends to be my answer to enhance any outfit.How to take a feature from a paint program and turn it into an excellent outfit; Zendaya’s color palette mosaic bodice and matching skirt lining is a welcome addition to this week’s bold looks and the Confirmation red carpet delivers on an array of striking ensembles.Double Sarah Paulson this week and first up wearing Philosophy at the FX Upfront The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story screening. Her hair looks really great here (Marcia Clark hair essay plug!) and upfronts fall into the TCA/PaleyFest dress code where there isn’t really one, but you don’t want to go too fancy or shabby. Paulson straddles this middle ground here. The blue heart pendant is a nice touch with this plunging neckline; a subtle nod to her favorite emoji?Borrowing a coat from her onscreen mom’s wardrobe is Holly Taylor also at the FX Upfront screening and this Coach tan trench is going to be making an appearance this season on The Americans (we have already seen the black version). Adding a touch of sophistication over her black crop top and jeans casual cool ensemble. Tatiana Maslany is a woman after my own heart and as she makes her way into The Late Show with Stephen Colbert heels in hand and yellow sneakers on her feet. Sarah Paulson Part II – also appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and while I’m not totally on board with whatever is going on at the bottom of this dress, the plaid coat with leather lapels is more than making up it. Get on my coffee table The Gentlewoman, because woah is this cover shot and yellow/black and white pairing so goddamn good.

Yes award season is over and yet there is another award show, but we don’t mind because this is a fun one and award season fatigue is easily replaced with sartorial joy. There are more fabulous outfits on display at premieres, play openings, editorials and magazine covers.At the Empire Awards Maisie Williams continues her run of fun red carpet choices in this sequin Sadie Williams top and mini-skirt and I love everything about this. Including the fact that she did her own her and make-up and to quote Williams on this matter “cos why the fuck not.” Roll on the Game of Thrones season 6 press tour and we’ve got more Maisie Williams below.John Boyega and Daisy Ridley continue to charm and delight with their enormous smiles and star presence. As with Maisie Williams both Boyega and Ridley don’t shy away from bold choices on the red carpet and they’re having a good time with these events and what they wear.

The floral element is a nice touch on Boyega’s suit and Daisy Ridley’s Hugo Boss dress is interesting and uses sheer panels in a way that doesn’t make me want to cover my eyes. Incredible sparkly shoes to top things off. Recently there has been a lot of Tom Hiddleston wearing appropriately snug suits in my life (see The Night Manager and High-Rise for more) and at the I Saw the Light premiere he has opted for a fabulous blue number. Elizabeth Olsen complements his blue in a red Emilio Pucci feather embroidered frock which looks every level of fancy comfy; an ideal combo. Also I seem to recall dating rumors about these two and yep I am here for that.Moving on to a couple who I definitely know are together and Hugh Dancy was there to support wife Claire Danes at the opening night of her new play Dry Powder. While there is nothing super groundbreaking about either outfit – the subtle check on Dancy’s suit is a nice touch – both look great and it has been a while since they graced these pages.More couple treats as John Krasinski is also in Dry Powder and wife Emily Blunt joined him on the red carpet. All the cape and knit dress points for the pregnant Blunt.

Speaking of maternity style – Keri Russell appeared in The New York Times crushing it in this casual cool mix of jeans, white blouse and sleeveless coat. And heels (while not as crazy as the Gucci platforms I am still in awe).

In the interview Russell discussed her feelings about Elizabeth referring to her as “my fantasy person” and “Honestly, I relish the kind of mother she is — especially these days when we’re all supposed to be craft-making, cookie-making, have a career, be sexy, have a great body, go to Pilates. She’s not at home making Halloween costumes or inviting her kids’ friends over for cupcakes. It’s totally refreshing.” Paige might be causing a whole lot of headaches for her parents on The Americans this week and Holly Taylor is hitting all those devastating emotional beats not letting her mother get away with blaming her for the mess they are in. The styling of Holly Taylor’s Interview editorial is giving me so many Keri Russell vibes thanks to the black jumpsuit styling which her onscreen mother has a penchant for. Also all that amazing hair.

Taylor talks about her Americans audition, college plans, the background in dance that she shares with Russell and how draining it was to film the big reveal scene last season.

The new double issue of Entertainment Weekly is a Game of Thrones special focusing on the women – A+ pun work there – and the six covers showcase these characters in ways which seem true to who they are and as a bonus they don’t make me cringe. This one of Maisie Williams as Arya Stark shows her looking defiant rather than blinded as we last saw her and hopefully this means she will be reunited with Needle soon.All six covers are fabulous and for once I am glad to be a digital subscriber over the print edition as I won’t have to choose which one I get. The thing that makes me happiest about this Sophie Turner cover is she is wearing the badass Sansa costume which we first saw at the end of season 4; is this a sign that Sansa will get her revenge and some power this year?

PaleyFest, SXSW and new magazine covers are all on this week’s “Out of the Box” menu and these events are the kind that bring out the best of the casual/fancy in-between zone, which post-award season is my favorite kind of dress code. At the Supergirl PaleyFest panel Supergirl herself, Melissa Benoist pairs a fantastic hypnotic skirt with a classic black turtleneck and I am so here for this level of fun. And she seems charming as hell to boot (even if I have fallen behind on this show – a mantra I could stitch on a cushion right now #PeakTV).Another case of a super fun ensemble for PaleyFest and Tracee Ellis Ross combines two of my favorite things – sequins and stripes – at the Black-ish panel. The look on her face and pose says it all really. This is how an outfit should make you feel.At the Don’t Think Twice SXSW screening floral and colorful geometric prints ruled supreme. Gillian Jacobs high neck sleeveless dress is mesmerizing and as with Mindy Kaling’s Mindy Project costume sneak peek Kate Micucci is making a strong case for floral rompers. Writer Tami Sagher also looks great and I am so ready for spring frocks.Bows and ascots were all over the recent runway shows and at the My Blind Brother screening Zoe Kazan’s long sleeve dress combines several box tickers; Peter Pan collar, floral and an ascot bow. Kazan has appeared a lot on TV Ate My Wardrobe recently and her insight regarding these events is why she is one of my favorite people I follow on Twitter including her reaction to the kinds of questions asked after this particular screening.

Yes this column is all about the ‘looks of the week,’ but I also get why it is important to ask questions about the film in question and not just dress details. And I definitely want to know about technical aspects, particularly all things costume (as anyone who visits this site will be aware). More spring foliage and while I’m not fully on board with sleeve cutouts, Jenny Slate is working this style at the My Blind Brother screening. Post SXSW Slate has gone on a roadtrip with Zoe Kazan and she has been documenting this very fun looking adventure on Instagram.Entertainment Weekly hosted a party at the Spotify House celebrating Mr Robot at SXSW and quite a few of our faves showed up including Abbi Jacobson feeding my leather jacket and pleated skirt craving with Ilana Glazer hitting the t-neck points. This is more casual than the SXSW premiere events and style wise it is similar to the Sundance Film Festival, but switching out knitwear for denim short shorts. This is cute and casual from Tatiana Maslany and perfect for hanging out on our future BFF dates. I am also impressed that even with the MANY hairstyles we have seen her rocking that her actual hair is different from every clone version. This is somewhere between Sarah and Helena’s huge blonde mass of curls.Tatiana Maslany’s boyfriend Tom Cullen captured the perfect “they look just like sisters’ shot of Maslany with Ilana Glazer and Alia Shawkat at the EW Mr Robot SXSW party and Shawkat poses with man of the hour and Mr Robot star Rami Malek. I love the annual Hollywood Reporter ‘Stylist and Stars’ issue and list especially as it comes so soon after a stylists busiest season. Rami Malek is wearing that stunning purple Calvin Klein suit he wore to the Independent Spirit Awards with Ilaria Urbinati and we gave her a shout out at the time because her work with Malek has been incredible.

Celebrating the people who give us plenty to write about when it comes to red carpet style is important and Leesa Evans (who is also a costume designer and has worked on a whole lot of Apatow produced movies such as Amy Schumer’s Trainwreck) appears with Amy Schumer, Jeff K. So yes let’s give a whole lot of love to the stylists.It is rare to see a sweatshirt on the cover of a fashion magazine and awkward pulling it down aside, this cover is really great and Kerry Washington is always someone I am happy to see showcased in this manner. Washington discusses her new HBO movie Confirmation as well as the changing TV and film landscape. She talks about feeling invisible in her career pre-Scandal and that she’s had a conversation with Viola Davis and Taraji P. Henson regarding this and how “Television changed the game. Coming into people’s houses on a weekly basis is just a different kind of relationship to the public.” The issue is available to buy on both physical and digital newsstands now.

Out of the Box: Look of the Week

This is our first “Out of the Box” post-award season post and guess what? There are still plenty of amazing outfits, events and magazine covers to admire/covet/gaze over. From teen girl superstars to The Americans with a dash of Paris Fashion Week and Broadway openings; we’ve got a wide range of looks from fancy pants to casual cool.

Teen girls taking over the world one magazine cover at a time and this new ‘Dream Teens’ W issue is gonna look great on my coffee table. When discussing Kiernan Shipka’s Dazed feature I mentioned this factor as once again there is an element of direct confrontation in their gaze which is so appealing and there is something incredibly powerful about this shot of Shipka, Willow Smith and Zendaya. The other photos from the editorial are just as strong and you can check those out here along with individual interviews. I am so excited to see what they all do next. Over at Tom and Lorenzo they remarked that this black Gucci ruffled number is an optical illusion of a dress as from the front you can’t tell that Keri Russell is pregnant, but the side view makes it very clear. Either way, Russell looks fantastic at the season 4 Americans premiere and the vampy lipstick color hits all the right notes.

This is a very different look from the Valentino frock she wore on The Late Show last week showing there are plenty of options for fancy maternity wear. The stacked Gucci platforms are kind of insane (pregnant or not) in close up form, but work from the front in this shot.Also at The Americans season 4 premiere is Alison Wright taking a break from pussy bows, anguished faces and giant 80s hair in a printed Mary Katrantzou delight. Plus pocket points! Keeping with The Americans theme and Julia Garner attended the Miu Miu Paris Fashion Week show this week in this super cute and sophisticated look. There’s no word as to whether Kimmy will be in season 4, but Garner has been taking the fashion world by storm modelling for Miu Miu, hitting the Balenciaga runway and featuring on the cover of Italian Vogue. Paris Fashion Week has definitely delivered on the outerwear front and recent Oscar winner Alicia Vikander attended the Louis Vuitton show – it is the brand she models for after all – in a fantastic blue and white coat. The rest of the outfit is also very Vikander cool and hopefully we will be seeing more Louis Vuitton creations like her sequin SAG and Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty dresses. Danai Gurira has been crushing it all areas – writing, acting, fashion – and at the Eclipsed opening night afterparty she wore this very pretty and colorful flowing Schiaparelli gown, which is ideal for twirling in. Ruffles are big this week and Lupita Nyong’o works this trend with aplomb in green plunging Balmain and her new InStyle cover also embraces this color in the best possible way. Adding to my magazine ‘to buy’ list.Olivia Wilde has directed a music video for Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes causing instant thoughts of Marnie’s dream wedding aesthetic on Girls. This is also a really great casual outfit for a moment like this; once again proving that Wilde delivers on both the fancy pants events and the more dress down occasions.

The final hurrah of award season is here with a look at the best of the Vanity Fair party where quite a few dresses were better than the ones worn to the actual Oscar ceremony. Plus funky street style, Paris Fashion Week and talk show appearance outfit joy.Now this is what I am talking about and while I liked Alicia Vikander’s Oscar dress it just didn’t have the all heart eyes emoji factor. If she had worn this super sexy sequin Louis Vuitton dress first there might have been declarations of it not bringing the woah factor, but I think my jaw would have been on the floor. It has all the cool vibes that Vikander normally brings with the best Oscar after party accessory. Elizabeth Banks knows how to bring it and once again the reaction I had to this dress was what was missing from most of the overall red carpet. Maybe she should have been at the awards ceremony too. A caped jumpsuit isn’t the easiest of looks to pull off, but Banks does just that in Ralph and Russo. If I didn’t already have a strong idea of what I want to wear to my wedding this year then this would provide amazing inspiration.The next three looks are also upgrades from what was worn on the Oscar red carpet and Mindy Kaling stuck to her black dress with a twist theme switching Elizabeth Kennedy for custom Salvador Perez. Perez as we have mentioned on a number of occasions is the Mindy Project costume designer and his creations highlight everything amazing about Kaling’s figure. I did also love Mindy’s day after the Oscars outfit.Priyanka Chopra’s crystal embellished Jenny Packham ensemble hits all the right sparkle spots and this looks like the kind of outfit which might be worn for a super dramatic late ’70s soap opera moment; I am so here for that.Wearing Galvan for both the Oscars and the after party and Sophie Turner’s second outfit is the standout thanks its bold color. The very cool thing about both gowns is they are made from sustainable materials to promote socially responsible fashion. There is something so soothing about Patricia Clarkson and she is always someone I am very happy to see both on screen and the red carpet. Plunging floral embroidered Alberta Ferretti and a strong red lip is an instant yes. Spring is here! And yes it did snow this week, but the sun is shining now and Kirsten Dunst’s yellow floral frock is making me forget that I am still wearing an outfit entirely made up of various chunky knits.On the flip side I’m still aware of just how cold it still is and Kate Mara’s summer dress getting hidden by a fabulous coat at the H&M Paris Fashion Week show makes so much sense to me right now. And now for a dress that straddles the winter/summer divide and Keri Russell is crushing it with her maternity style in Valentino on Late Night with Seth Meyers this week. In the interview they discussed The Americans (which is back in just over a week!), going and buying coffee while in costume, slapping people and Felicity. Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer also appeared on this episode in what is probably my dream talk show booking (watch the whole episode here).

Thanks to makeup artist Tina Turnbow we have a closer look at not only the exquisite floral detail of the dress and those amazing earrings, but also the striking purple eyes which is giving me flashbacks to this and one of my own personal favorite eyeliners (also thanks to Turnbow).
