Behind the Insta-Scenes: Photos from the Set

9 Sep

Plenty of drinking, dancing and fabulous outfits included in this week’s TV (and film) Instagram highlights as fall TV quickly approaches.

Kicking off with my new favorite Instagram account and the Venice Film Festival has certainly delivered on the red carpet front. It was hard to pick just one shot from Greg Williams because there so many stunning and very fun photos to choose from, so I narrowed it down to a couple when really it could have been WAY more. First up Jake Gyllenhaal’s boat face is a thing of wonder.

Ruffalo and Tucci fixing each other up. This is a whole lot of handsome man in evening wear.

Now feeling an even deeper affinity for Diane Kruger upon learning she is a spiller.

Danish Pacey has been the unofficial nickname for Borgen star Pilou Asbæk in plenty of Twitter convos so this post from Joshua Jackson brought squeals of delight (and was all the better as it occurred on my birthday). Now to find a movie/show they can star in as brothers.

Happy You’re the Worst Day! Celebrate with a plate of Edgar’s nachos.

Jussie Smollet continues to torture his onscreen mom Taraji P. Henson by surreptitiously filming her in various sleeping/singing positions.

Lots of dancing on the Jane the Virgin set and Justin Baldoni and Brett Dier heart each other a whole lot more than their characters do.

Exhibit B of how much this cast likes to dance.

So ready for Bridget Regan causing more havoc on this show.

And also on this one.

A work outfit that I would like in my closet. And Jessica Williams is pulling a real life heart eyes emoji face. [insert own heart eye emoji face here]

I don’t know how Queen Margo Martindale has not already been on The Good Wife, but here she is filming the forthcoming seventh season.

From the mega Shondaland triple magazine shoot for Entertainment WeeklyEssence and People. There are a whole lot of people on these shows.

SJP joins Billy Eichner for some running around the street and shouting at people antics. I cannot wait.

Followed up by this matching bralet and shorts beauty.

Ah the benefits of being famous. January Jones is still repping a strong hashtag game.

A very happy holiday weekend and end of the summer from James Wolk. You’re welcome.

Behind the Insta-Scenes: Photos from the Set

5 Aug

If there was a “Behind the Insta-Scenes” theme this week it would probably be #SquadGoals. A lot of shows are now back to work and getting their promo on as fall season looms, but there are also plenty of vacation shots occurring.

Brie Larson joined Instagram last week and this human pyramid of lady greatness is one of her first photo offerings. The only time I’ve been involved in one of these was at Reading Festival about 10 years ago and surprisingly no one was hurt (I am ultimate clumsy). I did see a far messier one at the wedding I attended this weekend, which is what happens at 1 am. Larson also shared this excellent shot from the Jenny Lewis “One of the Guys” video.

And the inspiration! Oh to be on vacation in the Hamptons with Amy Schumer and JLaw.

Sarah Jessica Parker isn’t bored of Carrie Bradshaw’s signature drink.

#RelationshipGoals

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is guest starring on the forthcoming season premiere of The Mindy Project as (spoiler alert) Mindy’s husband. Say what?! Well, Mindy is very not pregnant in this party shot (super hot dress BTW) and Sliding Doors is the inspiration for this alt-reality setting. If you read our Felicity discussion posts you will know I love a ‘road not traveled’ exploration. Although interestingly enough I have never seen Sliding Doors the whole way through.

Because Mindy Lahiri is most definitely pregnant and wearing a very fetching Salvador Perez orange ensemble while shooting a subway scene. This is only adding to my current craving for orange clothes. Kaling is really great at showing sneak peeks of the amazing costuming and hopefully the premiere date will be announced soon.

This image of Taraji P. Henson is everything and needs to be printed on t-shirts/mugs/fridge magnets.

Double Cookie for your pleasure this week and Empire is another highly anticipated returning show.

Alan Cumming is back in full Eli Gold garb and hopefully this caption means big things will be happening for this character in season 7.

The first full length You’re the Worst promo was released this week just as shooting the second season comes to a close. I heart this cast so hard.

Break out the dance party as Playing House is back. Here is a stunning photo of Lennon Parham laughing it up backstage at Late Night with Seth Meyers.

It is Jon Stewart’s last week on The Daily Show and I’m feeling pretty emotional about it to be honest. Going to watch it being filmed back in 2010 was an experience I never imagined I would have and it was even more wonderful than expected. Here is the always incredible Jessica Williams with her boss in the background. Enjoy this truly excellent segment from last night’s episode.

There are going to be plenty of these kinds of shots this week (I expect Instagram to be awash with Daily Show photos tomorrow) and Amy Schumer is doing the waiting in the wings thing before she goes on. Schumer also explained just how the JLaw boat hangout went down.

Selfie love from the Orange is the New Black ladies all in costume.

And another OITNB delight to round off this week’s “Behind the Insta-Scenes.”

Behind the Insta-Scenes: Photos from the Set

8 Apr

Mad Men returned this week and one of its stars joined Instagram; so far Elisabeth Moss is killing it with the set photos, costume peaks and cat pictures. Plus more Masters of Sex season 3 costume hints and a new furry addition to the Girls set.

One of my favorite Peggy costumes (from “The Flood”) and a break from the dreaded pantyhose. I have definitely worn a variation of this outfit. Probably not with those shoes.

Random Mad Men hookup reveal. Or rather a preview of their appearance on Watch What Happens Live. Elisabeth Moss prepared for this interview in the best way she could – by watching Real Housewives. Have I mentioned how much I adore her?!

January Jones is still the undisputed Instagram hashtag queen and her co-star has far to go to reach these heights. This includes Jones’ Easter post in a very on point Betty frock from her Coca-Cola audition back in season 1.

Carrie Bradshaw wasn’t too hot on technology particularly phones and SJP has similar feelings; getting lightly teased by an off camera Kerry Washington as part of their Glamour cover behind the scenes.

The cast of Orphan Black (minus the clones) at WonderCon doing the mass selfie thing and we are only a couple of weeks away from season 3!

As with Peggy, I love seeing Virginia in pants on Masters of Sex and as there’s going to be a time jump I’m really looking forward to seeing how this impacts Virginia’s costuming. These sneak peeks are fantastic.

A slightly different look for this Masters of Sex trio.

My first question when I saw this photo was whether this is a new addition to the Girls cast as a puppy would sure be a step up from Desi for Marni. It turns out this is Moxie, Allison Williams’ new pup and so sadly I don’t think we will be seeing this cutie onscreen.

TV show magic and a less disruptive option than using the real thing. Those are some very un-Sherlock clothes there on Jonny Lee Miller.

Out of the Box: Look of the Week

13 Feb

New York Fashion Week has just kicked off and will dominate TV Ate My Wardrobe over the next few days; this edition of “Out of the Box” includes a couple of NYFW moments, magazine covers/editorials and other red carpet events.

Elizabeth BanksElizabeth Banks made our Best of 2014 “Out of the Box” list and here she is at the Berlin Film Festival for Love & Mercy in another stunning Elie Saab Couture gown. I cannot wait for the Pitch Perfect 2 promo train.

Tracee Ellis Ross EssenceTracee Ellis Ross looks like she is about to play a killer and super stylish game of tennis on the cover of Essence and I love it.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw Town & CountryTown & Country delivers another beautiful editorial this time for the US edition and featuring Gugu Mbatha-Raw. In addition to these amazing shots Mbatha-Raw gives a good style message to live by “It’s important to know that it’s okay to be your natural self. It’s also okay to dress up and wear makeup and hair extensions if you want, so long as you don’t feel like you need that or will be worthless without it. The point is, it should be a choice.”

Laverne CoxA celeb filled runway at the Go Red for Women event and Laverne Cox works her Donna Karan gown by turning the sheer cape into a twirling sensation.

SJPSuper floaty pink dress, sleeveless check wraparound coat; this is SJP NYFW perfection when unveiling her new shoe collection with Tome this week.

New York Fashion Week: Best of the Runway Watching Looks Part 1

8 Sep

The new TV season is about to start and a good way to get word out about these shows is to have the stars attend New York Fashion week or as with the women from Orange is the New Black they are still enjoying their well deserved victory lap. Whatever the reason there are plenty of famous attendants showing off their own style (good or bad) while also taking in what they will be wearing in the future.

Rather than waiting until the end of the week with “Out of the Box” here are some of the best looks from the first half of NYFW.

SJPSarah Jessica Parker goes with NYFW like Carrie Bradshaw does with Manolo Blahniks and SJP wore this is beautiful Preen dress to the Lexus Design Disrupted event. The metallic pumps from her own SJP collection work like a charm against the bold color of this frock.

Allison Williams DVFAt the Diane von Furstenberg show Allison Williams was lucky enough to wear something from the Spring 2015 RTW collection; this white dress with a gingham detail is of the usual Allison Williams girly styling without being too on the nose a la her Emmys dress. Bonus lip color points.

Uzo Aduba Christian SirianoUzo Aduba continues her style streak moving away from 70s secretary bowed chic (which I love) to this shimmery art deco looking delight at the Christian Siriano show.

Jackie Cruz, Selenis Leyva, amanda WarrenAduba’s OITNB co-stars Selenis Leyva, Jackie Cruz, Kimiko Glenn along with The Leftovers’ Amanda Warren showed off a range of bold styles at Nicole Miller. Kimiko Glenn kept things simple chic in a grey pencil skirt and crop sweater, while Cruz and Leyva went for the bold patterned look and Warren had a chest of feathers.

Margarita LevievaAt the same event former Revenge star Margarita Levieva wore some really meh nude pumps, but made up for it in a vermillion color dress with cut out side panels.

Katie CassidyThe Nicole Miller show was the place to be and Katie Cassidy demonstrates how to do runway watching in a super casual comfy manner (ok those shoes probably hurt) while still looking chic.

AnnaSophia RobbHere’s a guide to wearing your jacket on your shoulders as told in two parts at the Rebecca Minkoff runway show. First up AnnaSophia Robb and I’m still not over the Carrie Diaries cancellation even if Austin Butler and his hair will be making their way to Arrow. I am beyond in love with this geometric multicolored pleated skirt.

Jamie ChungJamie Chung could be a Pink Lady with this jacket slung over her shoulders, but it’s her print dress and blue bag that I’m coveting while ignoring whatever clunky strappy shoes she is wearing.

Evolution of Hip-Hop Dancing and a $100 Bet on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show Debut

18 Feb

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon kicked off with a whole slew of famous faces including the already publicized Will Smith and some surprises. Following on from “Evolution of Mom Dancing” which Jimmy performed last year with Michelle Obama (who will be a guest on Thursday), Will Smith pulled out the big moves for “Evolution of Hip-Hop Dancing.” Dressed in the appropriate Fresh Prince approved dungarees (one strap undone of course), the moves include the “Running Man” and the “Carlton.”

http://youtu.be/ZTpn30Pms8I

The star-studded cameos were boosted in a fun way as Robert De Niro (who was the first guest on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon), Tina Fey and Seth Rogen (to name just a few) came out one by one to pay Jimmy $100 as part of a bet. Some produced the money from ‘safe places’ with Sarah Jessica Parker getting it out of her shoe and Mariah Carey pulling it out of her cleavage. Backstage would have been interesting and earlier in the day Lindsay Lohan Instagrammed a shot which hinted at some sort of involvement with the Fallon’s debut. If I hadn’t seen this I might not have recognized her. Stephen Colbert ends the segment adapting one the best TV welcomes, but I will leave that as a surprise and I’m sure there will be more treats this week on The Tonight Show.
