Out of the Box: Look of the Week

23 Jan

The onslaught of award shows has slowed down and with TCA coming to a close this is a slightly quieter week. Fear not as there are still some awards to be given out before the SAGs/Oscars – the SAG Awards are this Sunday – and various promotional events too. Plus the return of a character look of the week.

Keri Russell and Matthew RhysStarting with one final TCA panel and I am thrilled The Americans is back for season 3 next week (January 28). I am also happy to see Keri Russell ditching her signature black/white choices and embracing some color and pattern in an olive-green Balenciaga leather skirt with a Saint Laurent leopard print shirt. This pairing particularly with the bow element sounds like it shouldn’t work, but it looks fantastic and Russell continues her style reign. Polka dot points for Matthew Rhys thanks to his tie which brightens up the grey.

Joanne FroggattThe British Consulate in LA hosted an afternoon tea to celebrate Wolf Hall this week – what better way to celebrate something concerning British royalty than with a very British sounding event – and Downton Abbey’s Joanne Froggatt is doing the flirty summer dress thing in Issa. I hope the ground isn’t too soft as I’m picturing those gold Giuseppe Zanotti sandals sinking into the grass.

Emma WillisAt the National Television Awards presenter Emma Willis embraced her fondness for yellow Roksanda Ilincic in another incredible outfit. Pairing a crop top with a skirt this floaty adds an edginess to this look and ensures Willis stands out in the style stakes.

Maisie Williams NTAMaisie Williams embraces the menswear trend at the National Television Awards in a fantastic Diesel Gold suit and this is a fun play on the lady tux. The jacket chain and white top with black neckband are the kind of things it helps to be 17 to wear and Maisie Williams continues to have fun with her outfit choices at events like this. Bonus red lipstick points are awarded of course.

Sleepy HollowAs I mentioned in the intro this is the return of a character look of the week with Ichabod Crane on Sleepy Hollow going for a slightly dressier approach as it is date night, which turns into painting horrorshow. At least he didn’t get too much blood on his high stand collar; hopefully it will come out in the wash. Plus he also got to air his grievance about modern dress “How can one be both business and casual?” Abbie’s sticking to her standard all dark attire and I’m forever thrilled she gets to wear boots like these ones rather than running in heels.

Sleepy Hollow Season 2 Poster and Promo: “Evil Takes Hold”

6 Aug

Last time we saw Abbie and Ichabod in the season 1 finale of Sleepy Hollow one was in a giant pink plastic house in purgatory and the other bond by tree roots buried six feet under. As the new artwork shows for the forthcoming second season there are evil forces at play trying to keep them apart.

Sleepy Hollow S2The new promo and clip show that Abbie and Ichabod will be reunited despite their current perilous positions; the task at hand requires them saving Katrina once again as she was taken by former fiance Abraham and now Headless Horseman. Ichabod must also continue to get to grips with the modern world and he is not a fan of banks and/or credit cards. Some snark is also reserved for how little a bank trusts its customers with their pens. Oh I have missed you and your view of modernity, Ichabod.

A slightly fancy fist bump to add even more confusion, general Ichabod/Abbie banter, John Noble’s sinister laugh and all the other evil they are facing makes Sleepy Hollow one of TV Ate My Wardrobe’s most anticipated fall shows.

Sleepy Hollow returns Monday, September 22.

Best of the Entertainment Weekly Comic-Con Celebration Red Carpet

28 Jul

Comic-Con might be over and yet the style posts continue (and probably will for much of this week) with the best looks from the Entertainment Weekly party on Saturday.

Rose LeslieRose Leslie does simple chic attire with a hint of sparkle and after her other black sartorial choice I think we might have found a new TV Ate My Wardrobe favorite.

John Noble and Tom MisonThat noise you just heard was probably my heart going aflutter at the sight of Tom Mison wearing glasses and his beardy goodness. John Noble is looking rather dashing too in as part of this slightly different from Fringe father/son combo.

Nicole Beharie and Orlando JonesMore Sleepy Hollow goodness and posing like prom; not too keen on the sheer section of Nicole Beharie’s skirt, but this is a fun summer outfit. Totally digging Orlando Jones’ plum pants and glasses look.

DAWDeborah Ann Woll has lightened her locks (maybe for Daredevil or just to mark the end of True Blood) and she looks just as striking as ever in a strapless red frock with a bold lip color to complement the new ‘do.

Ashley MadekweAshley Madekwe brings the metallic goodness to this party in a Christian Dior strapless frock and the patch detail gives the impression of a fun uniform like embellishment.

Angela BassettNow this is a summer frock and Angela Bassett stands out in a Theia hot pink dress with a rainbow bodice.

Felicia DayRobots! Felicia Day’s top is delightfully on the nose for this weekend. Fantastic nail color too.

Best of the Fox 2014 Upfront Red Carpet

13 May

Upfronts week is here and this means an onslaught of promos as each network has new shows for us to fall in love with, break our hearts, covet costuming and snark about. Stars from both current and the forthcoming roster attend this presentation and the red carpet style can vary greatly from those who are already sporting their hiatus beards to the more eager to show off first timers.

Upfront fashion has a spring in its step as the colors are brighter and the hemlines are shorter and here are our highlights from Fox.

Nicole Beharie Tom MisonIt is so good to see Sleepy Hollow’s Nicole Beharie and Tom Mison together again; Beharie’s gone for a super sexy look in a Haute Hippie top and Dominic Louis skirt. Tom Mison looks dapper and casual as his trousers skim on the skinny side; he also thought it would be a good idea to crash the Brooklyn Nine-Nine cast photo. This is no hiatus beard as Sleepy Hollow has just started shooting its second season and we will be getting a 5 episode bump this year going from 13 to 18.

Hannah SimoneHannah Simone’s Dolce & Gabbana floral dress is on the more demure end of the scale and the only downside are her shoes which are a bit of a snooze.

Xosha RoquemoreThe Mindy Project’s Xosha Roquemore is wearing vintage Moschino Cheap & Chic and I love the cobalt blue of the dress and strappy shoes – on this occasion the matchiness works – with the bold leaf pattern of the shirt. Roquemore is showing off the perfect day to night feature fashion magazines as if she took off the shirt it becomes very much an evening outfit. The shirt is great so it should stay.

Zooey DeschanelThere’s a retro edge to the white Vivienne Westwood Red Label frock Zooey Deschanel is wearing. The kitten heels add to this vintage feeling and it’s very much a Zooey Deschanel look. The only thing missing is a bold red lip color to make this outfit truly pop.

Taraji P. HensonThis is a really great color on Taraji P. Henson and she will be starring in Empire (debuting midseason). While I normally have an aversion to nude shoes (see Hannah Simone above) on this occasion and with a dress color this bold I’m really digging this choice of nude patent Mary Jane Louboutin pumps.

Out of the Box: Look of the Week

21 Mar

This week PaleyFest has featured panels for show that are just ending, have barely just begun and ended long ago. Out of the Box is taking a look at some of the best looks from the various panels this week and with shows including Mad Men, Masters of SexThe Mindy Project and Community still to come expect more next week.

Yunjin KimYunjin Kim is wearing a stunning red structured wrap dress at the Lost reunion panel where we were told once again what we already know and that is the island wasn’t purgatory. Discussion gripes aside it was good to see some of the cast reunited and it’s hard to believe how much the TV landscape has changed since Lost debuted 10 years ago.

Troian BellisanoPretty Little Liars is a show I fell behind on and never caught up with, I still hope to but in the meantime here is Troian Bellisario rocking a super cute Charlotte Ronson dress. The red belt breaks up the pattern and it’s making me want to crack out the summer frocks even if it’s still too early (it might be sunny today, but it’s still not warm enough for that).

Aubrey PlazaJumpsuits aren’t generally my thing; black tends to be where I can jump on board with this trend and Aubrey Plaza’s Jonathan Simkhai getup can join the shortlist of jumpsuits I would consider wearing. First of all it has pockets, always a plus and I like that it cinches in the waist which prompted a mini ‘is this a jumpsuit or top/pants?’ debate. The slight pink accents are a nice touch too.

Lyndie GreenwoodLyndie Greenwood has been bumped up to a series regular on Sleepy Hollow next season as Abbie’s sister Jenny and this pleases me no end. Greenwood’s mint green Ted Baker skater dress is both casual and dressy; if I dared to wear light colors this is something I would very much like in my wardrobe. This is maybe a random observation, but Greenwood has the best eyebrows on TV.

Sleepy Hollow PaleyFestBonus Sleepy Hollow cast as Tom Mison assures the audience while his jeans may look of the skinny variety, they are most certainly not. The cardigan/tee look works very well for Mison. Orlando Jones is repping for his character with a t-shirt bearing his mugshot and “Free Frank Irving” underneath (sadly obscured by his hand here). Nicole Beharie has opted for monochrome and looks amazing; I do wonder what it would be like if the women dressed as casually for these events as the guys. Like I get why they dress up and after all most of Out of the Box this week is women in fancy/casual attire, but it feels like there is an expectation for actresses to get dolled up for these events, whereas the guys can rock up in whatever.

Sleepy Hollow Finale Review: Whaaaaaaaat?

21 Jan

A good twist brings out my Macaulay Culkin Home Alone impression and the last 15 minutes of the Sleepy Hollow double bill was all hands on cheeks, mouth agape. Nicely played, Sleepy Hollow. This first season has raised the bar for fast paced storytelling with an emotional core; it can be both incredibly creepy and heartwarming. It’s safe to say that the old misty eyes were induced several times over this double bill. Ichabod’s costuming has been a big discussion point here at TV Ate My Wardrobe and after last week’s brief foray into modern attire; he finally found a solution to his clothing dilemma.

Sleepy Hollow finaleThe second of the two episodes opened with what seemed to be a Katrina infused dream, nothing new here. Instead the scene subverted expectations and Ichabod was very much awake and in the real world, except the real world was masking as his old world with a re-enactment. Balancing the end of world doom with moments of brevity like this one is what makes this show such a fun watching experience and even though Ichabod can’t get his head around aspects of modernity, like why would you want to re-enact something as brutal as war, it provides a new clothing outlet for him. Yes the outfit Ichabod is wearing in Purgatory isn’t the same one we have seen him in throughout the year, but his new threads and they look a lot like his old ones.

Jenny makes a joke about getting rid of his “ratty coat” and this is not on Ichabod’s list of things to do “Please, and risk it be worn ironically by purveyors of artisanal marmalade who discovered it at the local thrift shop, I thank you no. For judge a man not by the wear of what he wears, but by the where and how he wears it.” Like most people Ichabod feels attachment to certain items of clothing, this is pretty much how I get every time I have to stop wearing a pair of hole ridden Cons and Ichabod has had that coat for two centuries. Bonds are formed.

Talking of bonds, the link between Abbie and Ichabod is strong and the strength of Sleepy Hollow lies in this relationship. Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie have this amazing ability to sell any of the bananas plot points; zombie George Washington? Sure! A trip to Purgatory? Why not! The banter and the more tender moments slightly diminish the joy of Crane getting Katrina out of purgatory – especially as she is quickly whisked away by the headless horseman – the hugs and declarations of loyalty between Ichabod and Abbie are a sure fire way to invoke all the feelings.

Now Abbie is trapped in a garish pink dollhouse, when Abbie and Jenny first discussed this place of sanction I imagined a traditional Victorian version. There’s actually something creepier about the one we get as it looks so out of place in the world between worlds and the bright color does little to comfort as it’s incredibly disorientating in this realm of darkness.

The big twist is that Henry Parish, the sin eater is actually both War and Jeremy Crane, son of Ichabod and Katrina. From the moment his hand healed of its own accord I figured there was something up with Henry, but in no way did I see this big reveal coming. John Noble is so good at portraying a sweet, put upon character (see Walter Bishop), I forgot that he can also play malevolent and bitter (see Walternate and Denethor). This is some huge child abandonment issues on show here, though on this occasion he should really cut his parents some slack.

Other finale highlights include reactions to emoticons, Ichabod realizing that flip phones are so last decade, Yolanda, fist bumps, Spy Daddy and zombie George Washington.

So Abbie’s stuck in a dollhouse, Katrina’s been taken, Ichabod’s been put in hole in the ground bound by roots and Jenny lies unconscious in her upturned truck. Oh and Irving is in jail. That’s not a good place for any of these characters to end the season. For us the audience we now have the agonizing wait until season 2 and until then you should check out this incredibly detailed conversation with costume designer Kristin Burke over at Go Fug Yourself, including a glimpse at the modern wardrobe that has been acquired for Ichabod even though he is unlikely to wear it ever.

Best of TV Costuming 2013: Revolutionary Styling of Sleepy Hollow’s Ichabod Crane

17 Dec

Continuing TV Ate My Wardrobe’s “Best of 2013″ costuming series and rather than doing a straightforward countdown we’re going to do a variety of posts that look at which costumes and shows have made a huge impact this year. From items that we want in our own wardrobe to pieces that got everyone talking, we want to look at this year’s TV through the prism of costume.

One of 2013’s breakout hits is Sleepy Hollow and it has become a “Look of the Week” regular. The storytelling is fast paced and it delivers episodes soaked in crazy with a big side helping of heart as Ichabod adjusts to his 21st century setting. Ichabod Crane’s present day costuming has been called into question and I want to look at why it makes sense for him to still be in his Revolutionary threads.

Sleepy Hollow baseballSuspending disbelief is something we constantly have to do when watching TV; whether it is because a headless horseman is roaming the streets or that a man who died in the past wakes up over 300 years later. The line is apparently drawn when it comes to what Ichabod is wearing in the present and why he would still be wearing the clothes he woke up in.

Aesthetically, if Ichabod had undergone a makeover and was now dressed in jeans and t-shirt he would lose part of the visual ‘fish out of water’ element; he’d look like a generic hot dude solving mystical problems. The late 18th century garb is a constant reminder that Ichabod is not of this time. There are other cues of course like his issues with computers and his disgust at historical inaccuracies that are being taught and these are used sparingly is from.

102SH_101_0552.jpgFlashbacks show Ichabod’s uniform in its natural habitat if you will and within this part of the story he is far from being a stranger in a strange land. Thanks to battle conditions he still looks somewhat rugged, but there is a more polished quality to the costuming as it is being worn in its original setting.

Sleepy Hollow red coatWe also get to see Ichabod in his original red coat before he defected and this is a rather jarring experience as the blue is a constant part of the Ichabod that we see in the past and present. Red is used sparingly in Sleepy Hollow and generally means the side of evil and this is why it looks so alien on Ichabod. This is Ichabod Crane at his most polished and the tricorn hat adds distinction to this look, even if we associate the color red with all things diabolical.

Sleepy hollowIf he smelt so bad would Abbie be hugging him like this?

The pilot episode shows Ichabod washing his clothes in a sink and recently Tom Mison joked to TV Line “Would you like to see him maybe at the Laundromat, just sitting on a bench in his 18th-century pants? That would be nice. One of Abbie’s bathrobes and a face pack – watching High School Musical. Just make a weekend of it, me and Abbie!” Don’t get me wrong, I do want to see that and all potential makeover montages, however the Revolutionary attire is part of what makes Ichabod who he is. It’s a tangible part of his past and it’s one of the only physical reminders of who he is and where he came from. There’s the question of letting go and it would probably be considered an unhealthy attachment if the present wasn’t so strongly connected to the past through purgatory and Katrina. The world is a very different place for Ichabod upon his return and to maintain a sense of self and identity his clothing acts as a tether.

Out of the Box: Look of the Week

8 Nov

This edition of “Out of the Box” is looking at moments that stood out visually on this week’s episodes of Sleepy Hollow and Boardwalk Empire. We’re also showcasing some behind the scenes shots from  New Girl and The Carrie Diaries.

Sleepy Hollow baseballAfter a three week break Sleepy Hollow is back! It returns with its strongest episode yet, filling in the details of how Ichabod switched sides in the Revolutionary War, introducing Fringe’s John Noble and inducing the misty eyes in a rather touching scene. Abbie doesn’t want to lose Ichabod because everyone she has ever felt a connection with leaves and she’s not ready to say goodbye, even if he believes he is living on borrowed time. They are a mismatched pair but this is part of the charm and it’s one of the reasons why each episode has been a joy to watch. Their obvious differences are evident in the shot above as Ichabod continues to wear his period garb and Abbie is very much of this time. Abbie’s off-duty wear isn’t particularly flashy, they’re at a baseball game so it’s casual and I can’t see Abbie being that much of a clothes horse (not that she doesn’t look good).

Sleepy Hollow red coatMultiple flashbacks mean Ichabod in uniform and this time the red coat variety. He looks pensive here and his conflict between what is right and the country he serves is evident early on. Ichabod is a man of honor and this is reflected in the way he holds himself in both the past and present. He looks less disheveled in these flashbacks, spending 200 years buried below ground has a habit of messing with your fresh faced and chipper complexion.

Sleepy hollowThis is a bonus Sleepy Hollow shot because I’m so glad it is back and this scene gave me all the feelings. Nicole Beharie does an excellent crumple chin that is Claire Danes Hall of Fame worthy and the chemistry between Beharie and Tom Mison is palpable. In a show that is so much about good and evil, it’s not surprising to have scenes containing strong light sources.

Richard Harrow weddingMoving onto Boardwalk Empire and another scene that features a distinctive light source; the framing of this shot is exquisite as Richard Harrow waits to marry Julia . It’s a marriage of convenience in one respect, which is why there is no fanfare and they sit quietly waiting for the office to open. The proposal itself is non traditional as Richard would never consider himself a worthy suitor and so Julia has to do the asking telling him “You might do in a pinch.” They’re doing this for the sake of Tommy; a child whose parents are both dead and whose grandmother’s care would almost certainly be detrimental to the boy. He’s already witnessed too much as it is. It’s not a loveless union and you can tell from the way they are sitting with each other that there is something more to this marriage than duty. They are both in their Sunday best and Richard’s buttonhole flower is a subtle touch to distinguish this from the suits he normally wears.

Zooey Deschanel InstagramChanging direction completely with this photo from Zooey Deschanel’s Instagram that celebrates the return of Damon Wayans Jr. to New Girl. It was also announced on Wednesday that Wayans Jr. will be sticking around for the rest of the season and while they still have much to do in terms of fleshing out this character, I’m excited about what this addition will bring to the various dynamics on this show. This season has had some issues in terms of Schmidt and structure and I think the presence of Coach could help revitalize New Girl.

photoAnother behind the scenes shot courtesy of Instagram and this time from The Carrie Diaries showrunner Amy B. Harris. Who could resist either the puppy or Austin Butler? If you aren’t all watching The Carrie Diaries (and from the ratings I’m sensing not a lot of you are) here is one (or two) obvious reason to start watching. Plus it’s a totally charming and fun show beyond just the guys and puppies.

Out of the Box: Look of the Week

18 Oct

It’s a genre TV heavy “Out of the Box” this week including a shippers dream and the most fun show on TV right now. As always this is just a snapshot of the week on TV and any other TV related photo shoots or public appearances that have caught the eye of us here at TV Ate My Wardrobe.

Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny AMA

The 20th anniversary of The X-Files continues to bring so much joy as Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny took part in a Reddit AMA (where the above photo is from) and a Paley Center Panel where they flirted a whole bunch and made sure that anyone who had any Mulder/Scully shipper feelings long ago is feeling them all over again. They look great and they’re having so much fun at these panels even if they can’t remember half of the plot of the show (and when it comes to the mythology, who can?).

[Source] [Source]

Sleepy Hollow continues to be one of the most fun things on TV at the moment and part of that joy comes from watching Ichabod adapting to the 21st Century. They don’t play this card too much and as it is used sparingly it adds humor when we do get a scene as he struggles to understand; I totally feel his pain when he is trying to get into the razor wrapped in plastic.

There has been a discussion as to why Ichabod is still wearing his old timey clothes and I think it’s still too soon for the big makeover episode as he’s meant to look out of place. It also gives Ichabod a tangible piece of his past to hold onto while he adapts to the present. He is aware that this might look peculiar as he asks Abbie is he looks out of place in this century and before she can really address this they are interrupted by a well timed radio call. The banter and chemistry between Abbie and Ichabod is one aspect that helps ground Sleepy Hollow even when the most ridiculous things are occurring.

Sleepy Hollow Cast Comic ConWhile I’m on the subject of Sleepy Hollow here is the cast at New York Comic Con from last weekend so you can see what Tom Mison looks like when he’s not in his Revolutionary War attire and yep he looks rather dashing in his scarf and sweater combo. Katia Winter who plays Katrina also gets to ditch her look from the past, but it is Nicole Beharie that stands out in a super cute polka dot dress. Orlando Jones is also looking pretty swish in his vest and green tie.

Rebekah, Klaus, Cammie

The Originals demonstrated that it’s not just Mystic Falls that can throw a decadent affair as a masquerade ball becomes the setting for part of Klaus’ big plan. This is all about light and dark and while the symbolism is rather obvious it doesn’t make it any less glamorous as the innocent Cami has taken fashion advice off Claire Danes in Romeo + Juliet. Klaus and Rebekah are both decked out in black because they’re evil and all that, plus they look terrific in these costumes.

Danai Gurira Instyle

The Walking Dead returned this week and hey they let Michonne smile for the first time ever and this made me very happy. As did her interactions with Rick (#Richonne4Eva). This photo of Danai Gurira is from the October issue of InStyle and it’s a stunning editorial; it is a completely different look to her Walking Dead character and the grim world it is set in.

A Precious Commodity

Once again the costuming on The Good Wife is impeccable and Diane looks like such a powerhouse as she negotiates with Will. The jacket is simple and the broach adds a bit of flare along with her dark rimmed glasses and red lipstick. We’re only 3 episodes in and The Good Wife has already dropped the mic several times as they build the tension and rip the firm apart from within. As with Scandal these clothes act as an armor for these characters and here Diane is showing that she isn’t going to give up without a fight. Olivia Pope would approve this look.

For Scandal and Masters of Sex costume posts head here and here.

Out of the Box: Look of the Week

27 Sep

It’s been a big red carpet week thanks to the Emmys (for all our coverage head here) and so Out of the Box is going to return its focus to the costuming that has caught our eye on TV this week. Featuring characters that are Out of the Box regulars and some new faces this is a snapshot of the week on TV and costuming that has caught our attention.

Breaking Bad hat and parka

The penultimate episode of Breaking Bad saw Walter White isolated and broken as he started a new life in a cabin somewhere in New Hampshire. It’s not much of a life as he has to spend $10,000 for an hour of company and two copies of Mr Magorium’s Wonder Emporium is all he has to watch. His first attempt to leave the cabin begins with him putting on the Heisenberg hat; a symbol of the empire he had created and the elusive figure that was feared. Combined with the parka coat and the surroundings this takes any of the menace out of it and the trip is futile, with Walt returning to his cabin of solitude. The next time we see him venture outside he has ditched the Heisenberg hat and opted for a more sensible beanie and it appears as if Heisenberg has gone for good. That is until he sees the Charlie Rose interview with his former partners and for one last episode Heisenberg is set to return.

Sleepy-Hollow-102

Oh Sleepy Hollow you are the most nonsensical fun that is on TV at the moment and the first two episodes have certainly squeezed a lot of mythology into them. The one thing that is grounding the show is the central relationship between Tom Mison’s Ichabod Crane and Nicole Beharie’s Lt. Abbie Mills. The crazy story part isn’t necessarily what hooks people into a show; it’s the chemistry between the characters that increases the satisfaction of a journey like this and it makes the ridiculous moments easier to swallow. Ichabod is still dressed in the clothes he arrived in and it’s unclear whether he will get a wardrobe update. This helps with the notion that he isn’t from this time and I can’t quite picture him in jeans and a t-shirt, though I also really want to see the inevitable makeover episode when they don’t have witches and headless horseman to deal with.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is another new show that benefits from a strong central pairing with Andy Samberg and Andre Braugher playing two very different cops. Braugher is the new Captain at the precinct Andy Samberg’s Detective Jake Peralta works at and the second episode reinforced the conflict between Jake’s easy going style and Captain Holt’s by the book attitude. Uniform has been a point of contention in both the pilot and with their undercover surveillance this week; Jake is seeing how far he can push his new captain. Jake’s minivan disguise is Harvey Norgenbloom and Harvey wears sandals, not the best footwear choice for chasing after bad guys. This push and pull works because Samberg is so good at doing the goofy manchild role and Braugher has the perfect level of deadpan. I’ve been impressed with both of these episodes and how quickly these characters have been established.

NG_ep302-sc20_1080Jess got wasted on New Girl this week after Nick’s solid advice that drinking makes you cooler and her hangover outfit is wonderful; the plaid shirt she slept in – it looks like it could be one of Nick’s but it’s actually a woman’s shirt that you can buy here – the key is that it is baggy as you don’t want anything too tight after a night of heavy drinking and toilet bowl dancing. The sunglasses are an important addition as is the coffee cup that Jess is clutching (a can of Diet Coke is my preferred solution).

Parks and Recreation - Season 6It’s April’s yellow mustard hoodie that is top of my clothing wish list and you’d be surprised how hard it is to find something this simple. Parks and Recreation returned for season 6 yesterday with a double bill episode and a trip to London (and Scotland). April’s dress at the awards ceremony is the same Alice + Olivia dress that Gossip Girl’s Kelly Rutherford was seen wearing at New York Fashion Week. Along with this mustard hoodie there are other repeated outfits featured in this premiere of Parks and Rec that are on my most wanted list including Leslie’s mixed polka dot blouse and it makes sense to reuse costumes with these types of characters.

Jean Ralphio and Mona Lisa

Special mention has to go to the wardrobe of Jean-Ralphio and Mona Lisa; this more than double denim explosion is as amazing as Jean-Ralphio’s hair is huge.
