The pre-Emmy events really kicked off last night at the Variety and Women in Film’s celebration and we have some of the best looks of the night. Expect more to be added before the main event tomorrow. 
Lots of super sparkly detail on nominee Tatiana Maslany’s frock and strappy sandals satisfying my inner magpie and boyfriend Tom Cullen crushes both the beard and suit game.
That time of year for actresses from Downton Abbey to grace these pages and this is their final Emmys; Laura Carmichael gives great print dress which kinda looks like it has a dolphin on it, but I suspect that is actually a rock by a river image. Regardless it is rather serene and different from the usual patterned affairs.
A jumpsuit with pockets and a jacket giving a caped effect is always going to please me. All Michelle Dockery needs is a bold red lip to really set this Elie Saab ensemble off.
Looking radiant in white Yusef Sanchez and Laverne Cox has gone for classic simplicity with just the right amount of sparkly accessories to complete this party outfit.
Showing off her naughty side with a clutch that also reads nice in a super chic look and Constance Zimmer is also wearing with the best lipstick of the night.
Sarah Hyland’s leaning a little figure skater in Elisabetta Franchi, but the combination of sparkles, feathers and sheer works as a party frock.
Double breasted suit perfection for Donald Glover and the no tie thing is working like a smart/casual charm.

6 AprIt is that time of year when Emmy related activities are beginning from the Variety “Actors on Actors” series to the most recent FX Upfront screening of American Crime Story. This means a lot of TV stars out and about so along with our usual behind the scenes set antics there is also plenty of promo stuff occurring. Plus a whole array of other events from the week.
Confession – I still have not caught any Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (I know), but I am still super psyched about this Instagram reveal and it is up there on the former roommate scale with Connie Britton and Lauren Graham.
Another amazing group of women and the “Fierce Verse: Feminist as Fuck” event is everything I want from a night of entertainment right down to Amber Tamblyn, Amy Poehler and Carrie Brownstein reading an Entourage script.
I’m already pretty sure that this Rachel/Quinn drinking/hangover scene is going to be an UnREAL season 2 highlight.
Adding “Quinning” to words I want to use more often.
Holly Taylor has ditched her Elizabeth Jennings’ coat and poses up a pool playing storm with her onscreen brother at the FX American Crime Story event last week.

Out of the Box: Look of the Week
4 JulIt’s been a relatively quite week on the red carpet front so this week’s “Out of the Box” is a mixture of fall fashion campaigns, magazine covers and an awards show.
Starting off super summery with Kerry Washington in this gorgeous Dolce & Gabbana at the BET Awards. I’m a sucker for floral print and this one is ticking all the right boxes. The dress stands out and so there’s no need to clutter it with too much jewelry or bold makeup. Excellent white pump and bouncy hair game sets it off.
Kit Harington is all smolder sadness face in Jimmy Choo’s fall campaign and this is a far cry from his Game of Thrones Night’s Watch threads. Why so serious, Jon Snow? (Other than all the obvious of course)
Covering the subscriber edition of the August issue of UK Harper’s Bazaar is a trio of Downton Abbey ladies with Laura Carmichael, Michelle Dockery and Lily James all wearing stunning Valentino gowns from the pre-fall 2014 collection.
Michelle Dockery also gets a solo cover (this is the regular edition) in a close up shot that reveals the exquisite and intricate feather shoulder detail on this Valentino dress.
Inside the issue more of the Downton ladies also get to join in with the fancy frock dressing including Phyllis Logan, Sophie McShera, Lesley Nicol, Raquel Cassidy, Elizabeth McGovern and Joanne Froggatt. They all look elegant and timeless in gowns that take a step away from the period the show is set in while still having a sartorial influence.
