Comic-Con is always a style favorite because there is such a variety of looks across the various appearances from onstage to parties and this year is no different.
“Out of the Box” covered the start of the 2016 convention and now we have the best looks from the rest of the weekend. The Marvel casting department continue to crush it and this group shot from Saturday after the Brie Larson is Captain Marvel reveal is giving me so many feelings. This is a whole lot of talented women and I suddenly no longer have superhero movie fatigue (the new Wonder Woman trailer also helped).
Plus there is a lot of different style choices going on here and this means the focus is spread throughout; green in various shades is a the dominant color choice and there is a good mix of pants and frocks in varying lengths. Basically, the list of things I love about this photo is long.Let’s break down some of the individual looks from the group shot above.
First up Lupita Nyong’o wearing Givenchy Resort 2017 (instant Beyoncé playing in my head) striking the balance between casual and fancy in a frock which could do day or evening in equal measure. A green crushed velvet suit is not an easy ensemble to pull off, but for Tilda Swinton this is very much in her sartorial wheelhouse and once again she is adding even more color with a pop of pink lipstick. Also going for the pants/green approach or rather pants adjacent is Brie Larson in a Gabriela Hearst Resort 2017 jumpsuit; giving of a 1970s superhero vibe, which I am more than here for.
Captain Marvel wasn’t the only Marvel casting news and Danai Gurira joining Black Panther as Okoye got me all in a fluster and not just because of how incredible the promo tour for this movie will be. Gurira’s gone for a knockout dress for this announcement and I wouldn’t expect any less from a TV Ate My Wardrobe fave.
Double Danai Gurira and opting for simple chic at the Walking Dead panel (#Richonne4EVA) with a dreamy dress choice (except for those of us with a tendency to spill).
T-Rex sweater is an instant hit – still coveting this Coach one – and Michael B. Jordan doesn’t change out of his Black Panther panel ensemble for the Entertainment Weekly panel because he is already looking pretty damn good.
On the dressier end at this party is Jamie Alexander and I cannot resist something this sparkly. Bonus lipstick points too.
More cute outfit with a leather skirt edge delights (as previously seen on Tatiana Maslany and various other attendees) and Nathalie Emmanuel ticks all the casual cool Comic-Con boxes while on SiriusXM’s Entertainment Weekly radio broadcast.
Tatiana Maslany’s got sparkly shoes and a plaid playsuit on while hanging out on the IMDb yacht (she also wore this at the EW “Women Who Kick Ass” panel) and she continues her every day style reign.
Double Maslany because clones and also I really like this second outfit (plus I have those sneakers!). Going the Michael B. Jordan chilled approach at the EW bash in skinny jeans, a varsity jacket and a funky blouse. A vibe I always get from Maslany at these events is she looks like she is there to have a good time and outfit restriction never factors in.
