Adam Driver’s Vogue Editorial and Gap Campaign

It’s been a good year for Adam Driver; he’s received an Emmy nomination for Girls, appeared in the critically acclaimed Frances Ha and Lincoln and he gets to play Connie Britton’s boyfriend in the forthcoming This is Where I Leave You. He’s also gracing the pages of the highly anticipated Vogue September issue in an Irish poet inspired shoot, appearing alongside model Daria Werbowy. Photographed by Annie Leibovitz in the Irish hills of Killarney and styled by Grace Coddington; this is an editorial that highlights the new season in a dramatic and fanciful manner.

Adam Driver and Daria VogueAfter two seasons of Girls seeing Driver shirtless is the standard (he does it so well) and while half of this editorial has this rugged half dressed approach (including one shot of him holding a sheep over his shoulders) he also gets to smolder while riding a donkey (fully clothed) and hang out in a tree.

Adam Driver tree VogueWhile the season 2 finale reuniting Adam and Hannah seems like a misstep towards a romcom saving narrative, the journey of Adam has been one of the most compelling on Girls so far. He was such an easy character to dislike when the show first started and since then my opinion has changed countless times. One thing that is clear (particularly when you factor in his Frances Ha role) is that he has a charming quality and a face that is incredibly beguiling.

It’s not surprising then that he has been snapped up for another modelling gig, this time for Gap’s Back to Blue denim celebrating campaign.

Adam Driver GapThis will also be the first time since 2009 that Gap is producing TV ads as part of their overall strategy and I kind of hope there will be dancing. Lots of dancing.
